TY BCom exam next week

  • Third year BCom students who gave their examinations at SIWS NR Swamy College of Commerce and Economics, Wadala, and missed the exam on Entrepreneurship and Management in Small Scale Industry paper, have a chance to sit again next week on May 28. The venue has been changed to the varsity’s Kalina Campus, lecture complex. The time is 11 am to 2 pm. Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Naresh Chandra said only those who could not appear for the paper on the earlier scheduled date will get this chance.
  • Signal Officer-in-Chief appointed

  • LT General Prakash Gokarn has been appointed Signal Officer-in-Chief of the Indian Army. He will oversee military telecommunications, electronic warfare and defence networks.
  • Lt Gen Gokarn handled the staff work pertaining to modernising static communications of the Army on the desert borders of Rajasthan and Gujarat. He was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal by former president R Venkatraman in 1991.

  • Samanta Sahakari Bank opened its second branch at Chapel Road, Bandra (West) on Sunday, May 10. Prominent personalities like Justice S Radhakrishnan of Bombay High Court, ex-Mayor Nirmala Sawant and film-maker Subhash Ghai were amongst those who graced the occasion. Within 14 years of operation under Nirbhay Singh, the bank has acquired 20,000 account holders and registered a 92 per cent growth in deposits.
  • Spiritualist to visit Mumbai

  • DR A Chandrashekhara Udupa, a practicing doctor who is also said to be a spiritual medium of Swami Vivekananda, is visiting Mumbai on May 23 and 24 to deliver the spiritually awakening thoughts and messages of Sri Guruji (Vivekananda) at M V Nanavati Hall, Khar (w) on May 23 at 5.45 pm and at Sir Vishweshwarya Hall, Mogul Lane, Matunga (w) on May 24 at 5.45 pm.
