‘Controversies and ridicule are part of public service. But the message going out is that Ramadoss is against tobacco’

•Coomi Kapoor: Dr Ramadoss, would you agree that you are the most controversial Health Minister we’ve had—the AIIMS tussle, your attempts to ban smoking, your criticism of actors for smoking in public and your desire to legalise homosexuality? Ramadoss: I am not a controversial person but  ....Read more

Health ProgrammesBy: Dr.Dinesh Jagiasi | Wednesday , 15 Oct '08 22:15:06 PM Reply | Forward Hello Sir,Unlike others I dont have any complains (however let me introduce myself first Iam a student of Health administration)would like to get one thing clarified that when we talking of public health then why dont we come out of this "programme mode"....I agree that NRHM is a success but why do we need a speciallized programme for our normal requirements..rather why not strengthen PHCs.
interview with health ministerBy: Sherry | Wednesday , 15 Oct '08 13:35:58 PM Reply | Forward Public health institutions are in a mess and getting worse by the day, putting a huge burden on the poor, and I doubt NRHM will have the desired impact. So, overall, I would say he has failed in the most important function of a health minister. But it is true that he has upgraded the profile of the health ministry and has implemented the ban on smoking in public places - a long overdue step - and is trying to decriminalise homosexuality. I doubt he will succeed in banning alcohol consumption, but good luck to him if he does.
Kudos to health ministerBy: G Sundar | Monday , 13 Oct '08 0:51:17 AM Reply | Forward I don't really understand what transpired between the health minister and Dr. Venugopal or who is at fault. But I agree with the other actions of the minister Anbumani like anti smoking, decriminalizing gays etc. I applaud the minister for the NRHM achievements. I always believe new young minds are required instead of clinging to 80 plus politicians.

interview with health ministerBy: durga | Sunday , 12 Oct '08 8:19:43 AM Reply | Forward as usual anbumani is lying. even the official figures contradict his claims about the nhrm. why can't our journalists do a little bit of homework before conducting interviews so that the interviewee cannot fool them so easily?
Ramdoss as PMBy: Girish | Sunday , 12 Oct '08 7:18:41 AM Reply | Forward The guy may actually make a good PM. Thank god for people like Mayawati and Lalu who will ensure this doesn't happen!
Apprach towards Manipal is not correctBy: Ramesh, New Delhi | Sunday , 9 Nov '08 18:52:27 PM Reply | Forward The treatment given by Health Ministry to Manipal University, an institute of International Repute is not justifiable...on certain simple grounds like the institution is not having separate library, the institution is not having sufficient teaching staff --on the basis of corrupt MCI officials reducing the seats after the classes begun - not justifiable. Let our honourable Health Minister visit and find out the truth. In the era of online library (many medical colleges do not possess them) reporting like, whether it is justifiable? An institution without any single rupee from UGC giving best salary in the country (better than any other institution in the country), providing best international infrastructure, an institution which earns huge foreign exchange reserves and spending that amount in the country, in fact, they do not receive any penny without a receipt. Unlike other institution, here quality if important, it is an ISO, Bajaj Award, may awards of repute, Prof. Valiathen is not an insider, he is just advisor and settled in Manipal, how Romdoss take the revenge against Pof. Valiathan by reducing the seats? Courts will give justice, no doubt, but you would have shown your support for these type of endeavours.
