It is really SadBy: sandeep | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 21:14:19 PM Reply | Forward Festival season is round the corner and every weekend you are having blasts in India. Now on top of that stampades are happening. Till certain extent government can do some thing for it, but I belive its people whose mindset needs to be changed. Every devotee including me thinks, aaj to bhagwan ko pakad lo. I have been to different famous religious places, but everywhere its the same scene. I think thats what is circle of life. Some people will come into world, but some other existing in here need to make way for there entry.
Why blame govt for it? It is discipline!By: Jojo | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 20:50:22 PM Reply | Forward Agree with Pasupathy. It is a matter of public discipline. No point blaming the govt, the authorities. The reported incident clearly shows that line was breached. Come on, a few undisciplined idiots caused this havoc. And such incidences keep happening because of undisciplined behavior of a few. There is always someone wanting to go ahead, drive on the wrong side, cross the line. And this gets multiplied then causing the havoc. The problem is, the number of people is so high that even 1% bad apples is a lot!
Lesson for extremistsBy: Indian | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 20:02:07 PM Reply | Forward Why don't the Goons from Bajrang Dal/VHP/Shiv Sena do something constructive by managing the devotees crowd who are going for worship..instead of their normal daily routine of spreading hatred....
Crowd management ideasBy: Blue Planet | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 19:36:52 PM Reply | Forward This is very sad. Apart from people being jittery from recent acts of terrorism, there definitely is something temples and local administration can do to streamline the crowds during popular festivals. e.g. (a) installation of CCTV and TV monitors so people can watch the worship from far(b) Scheduling more time slots for the poojas(c) Providing opportunities for worship at other locations in the temple complex (d) Educating the locals (preferably by means of a popular religious leader / Swamiji) on the dangers of overcrowding and encouraging them to use the options that help reduce overcrowding
naturalBy: reader | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 19:29:58 PM Reply | Forward this is quite natural for hindus in India. They have no concern for the other human beings and will act in such a way that they r superior to everyone. While some enjoy the fruits of recent liberalization the majority needs help from christian missionaries or loan from christian countries to be fed a meal ! Their further pride will make them fall much deeper. So much arrogant people and so much castism and seperatist ideologies u wont find anywhere in the world. They are proud of their civilzation but theirs is a civilization which is outdated !
punishment postings fro DM By: subhabrata123 | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 19:29:33 PM Reply | Forward The District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police should be demoted at least 3 post from their current postings. Moreover they should be posted in an advance area.
BJP must answer the devout!By: R. S. Sekhon | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 18:12:11 PM Reply | Forward The BJP had recently cried bloody murder over the conducting of the Amarnath Yatra even though the Yatra had concluded without any mishap. Now that they have 145 Hindu pilgrims killed in a stampede for want of proper safety measures and another 55 of them injured on their way to a Jodhpur temple, in a State ruled by their party --- the public would want to know what wretched excuses they have to explain away the utter neglect of the state government in ensuring the safety of the devout , especially the tragedy following on the close heels of a similar one in HP, a State ruled by them as well, in which 147 believers were killed. Ram, whose name the BJP so often shamelessly invokes in display of hypocritical self-righteousness every minute, is not going to let them go unpunished this time for all their cumulative sins. The BJP sounds so hollow in all that it professes and stand for, that people are now beginning to reject their bluff outright!
UPA government has neglected Hindu pilgrimagesBy: Bharat | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 16:38:46 PM Reply | Forward It is a national shame that UPA government has neglected Hindu pilgrimage places. The facts of various incidents from last 5 years are:August 27, 2003: 39 pilgrims killed, 125 injured when faithfuls who were waiting to bathe surged over a flimsy fence triggering a stampede at Kumbh Mela bathing festival in Nasik, Maharashtra.January 25, 2005: 340 devotees trampled to death during an annual pilgrimage at Mandhra Devi temple in Maharashtra.March 7, 2006: 28 killed and 101 injured in two bombings across Varanasi. First blast at a Varanasi temple followed by another at Varanasi Cantonment Railway Station crowded with pilgrims.August 3, 2008: 162 dead while 47 are injured in a stampede triggered by rumours of a rockslide at Naina Devi Temple in Himachal Pradesh.August 10, 2008: Two pilgrims died when over 250 people were left stranded on stairs leading to ancient Mahadeva temple in Kota district of north-western Rajasthan collapsed. Is there a government for Hindu majority?
Blame the State GovernmentBy: G | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 19:29:13 PM Reply | Forward Here go again, all faults to UPA government, something happens to your family blame UPA, there is problem in your house plumbing blame UPA, Why everybody is blaming UPA government, for the state irresponsibility. Come on Bharat, because the state is ruled by the BJP, doesn't give authority to the blame on Central. I doubt you are partial.
stampedeBy: wanufel | Tuesday , 30 Sep '08 16:26:07 PM Reply | Forward I am a european from Belgium and I agree with Ramesh Kumar. We don't have to give " lessons" to any other in the world. Let to everyone and every people his singularity. Love India and Indians
