It is regerettable that Advani's portrayal of the 2007 Karnataka scene is cooked for the occassion and hides the fact that BJP was no better than JD(S) in terms of "Opportunism" and betrayal of esteemde Karnataka Voters!
Thanks to his support to Moditva, he has given no ticket to a Muslim in Karnataka, as Modi did in Gujarat!Congress gave ticket to Muslims who defeated seven chosen Ministers of Modi!
Now, as never before, all interested in making BJP an alternative national party, have to decide whether this trend of making it an exclusive "majoritarian supermacist prty" is welcome thing or suicidal?
A lot of people are very interested in the poll outcome in Karnataka, as is evidenced by the keen interest shown by the various national TV channels.
This is a good chance for the BJP to consolidate it's gains, and come out triumphant.
Of course, there are quite a few groups who would do everything in their power to keep the BJP out of power, for obvious reasons. But it is upto to the BJP to convince the people of their credentials, and chalk out a plan of action for victory. This is a great chance for them to convince the people that they mean business, and will do more than mere lip service for the development of the state and nation.
Karnataka is the only state in the south where BJP is anywhere near power, and a victory here, followed by creditable governance, free of corruption, nepotism, and violence would go a long way to get them closer to power in neighbouring states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
But at the same time the apprehensions of minority communities such as the Muslims and Christians as also those within the fold of Hinduism- the castes not comprising the 'Upper' Castes should also be given adequate and due consideration, and necessary measures taken to alleviate them.
Other wise, the threat of terrorist violence and class struggles are very real, as is evidenced by day to day happenings.
