The preference for the Congress shows that for all their faults, people don't believe that the BJP automatically becomes the better one. The BJP has risen to prominence in national politics in 1989 by dividing society, there's no escaping that. They support a self-styled Sadhvi implicated in terrorist activity and doubted Mr. Karkare's character when he was alive, then hailed him when he died. They offer a 78 year old as Delhi's chief minister and an 80 year old as prime minister, because their younger ranks are busy cutting each other to size. They talk tough on terrorism but released terrorists who then went on to attack Parliament. And then they vocally demand that the mastermind of the Parliament attack be hanged, as though they didn't have any responsibility for the attack.
