New Delhi: In a victory for gay rights activists, the Delhi High Court legalised homosexual acts among consenting adults holding that the 149-year-old law making it a criminal offence is violative of fundamental rights and not punishable. "We declare section 377 of Indian Penal Code in so far as it crimin  ....Read more

Adam and Eve not Adam and SteveBy: Narendra Rawat | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 19:06:35 PM Reply | Forward God did not sanction homo behaviour. If he did, he would not have created Adam and Eve, he would have created Adam and Steve.
Both are goodBy: Indian American | Friday , 3 Jul '09 9:23:29 AM Reply | Forward God created all the combinations of Adam and Eve, Adam and Steve, and Ada and Eve. Don't just copy the utterances of Western religious conservatives. Have a mind of your own, and read the Vedas and Manusmriti.
Congrats to HC for doing right thing. By: Dee | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 18:21:58 PM Reply | Forward This is the most natural way to control Indian Population and haters instead of concentrating on gays, concentrate on pedophiles- In India traveling in bus or standing in a crowded area (almost everywhere) is a disgrace on human right.
Hypocrite activistsBy: SS | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 18:16:01 PM Reply | Forward How many of these 'activists' who 'support'gays are willing to walk the talk andlead a high risk sexual life? None of thesehypocrites who spoil the health of otherswill volunteer. It may be fair to treat them as delinquents as well.
Making amends for a better futureBy: Sunil Kumar | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 18:12:05 PM Reply | Forward Inclusiviness is the essence of our democratic polity.A social reality which has persisted down the ages was ironically denied so far.It was kept relegated to the closet. It was something not to talk about and even if talked about,it was something to be made fun of and laughed about. The Delhi High court courageously by invoking Nehru and the broad principles of our constitution bestows respect and freedom of choice to gays.It is a visionary judgement. It refuses to be tied down by double standards and hypocrisy. It acnowledges reality. It is a victory for democracy.
Gays legalisedBy: A R Prabhakar | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 17:59:06 PM Reply | Forward This judgement is in line with forward thinking world and welcome at that. Now let some one take up cause for the prostitution to be legalised so the proper education, health care and wealth share is there for these sex workers.
DONT BLAME ANY ONE, THIS IS ALL OUR OWN CREATED PROBLEM!!!By: GAYLAL | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 17:48:32 PM Reply | Forward This is all our own created, many people in past generations kept pushing for baby boys and not baby girls and now the time has come when these many boys have nothing else than to play with but their toys. what past generations did (pushed have baby boys) was against nature and what this generations is doing (pushing boys together) is against nature. It will balance out ...............
ManBy: Bill Bray | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 17:47:42 PM Reply | Forward It's about time. India being the world's largest democracy really needed this change to come about. India's religion is beautiful but we no longer live in the mythological time of King Rama. This is the real world and we are real people. We should move forward and not try to revert out culture to medieval times like other fundamentalist groups such as the Taliban and it's murderous terrorists who feel that a woman's body is so shameful that it must be hidden from view. GAYS IN INDIA UNITE. We here in the United States are behind you all the way!
Gay RightsBy: Pankaj Vohra | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 17:46:06 PM Reply | Forward Shows that Delhi High Court has more balls than the government who first hinted its support and then back tracked. Now i guess it will see the reaction before deciding which side to lean.
Does decision apply to other forms of consensual sex?By: shaawm | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 17:46:02 PM Reply | Forward The court decision sounds reasonable given the well-established fact that homosexuality is not a disease, but simply a form of sexual orientation. The changes to law to address court's ruling will definitely involve a lot of hurdles, and one should not forget that. On the other hand, does the court's decision also mean consensual incest involving adults to be legal? In any case, whatever the court and law says, humans will always do what they want.
they know not the meaning of democracyBy: Mohinder | Thursday , 2 Jul '09 17:42:13 PM Reply | Forward Some of the commentators are openly giving the impression that they are either uneducated or religious fanatics. Some are mixing other issues such as pollution etc. with this human rights issue. Some people are still uneducated in our country therefore they know not the meaning of democracy.
