New Delhi: Government on Thursday said that the United States has not expressed support for a permanent seat for India in an expanded United Nations Security Council. Why does it matter what US thinks??By: Vishal | Thursday , 9 Jul '09 20:36:20 PM Reply | Forward I logged on to indianexpress.com and the fist thing in bold letter is this news. Why does our government have to bother specifically what US thinks and why does it need to be reported like this? It is us who are creating this image of US. We could be stronger and competitive but we don't allow ourselves that opportunity. US and US media also likes that. No reason US has bullying countries all over the world.
security councilBy: joel | Thursday , 9 Jul '09 20:21:49 PM Reply | Forward India is one of the largest contingents of peace keepers. It deserves to be in the Security Council because of its size. But its contributions are minimal financially. There is no nexus or anything. Many countries dont favour India because it is a basket case of poverty. They cannot bear a country with 65% of its population BPL having a decisive say in the important forum. Indians beat their chest about begin 2nd fastest growing etc. But they are at such a low base and when US stumbled India crashed. There are so many claimants for permanent seats and they all cant and dont deserve it. No country respects India yet but when they achieve a decent standard of living for their masses they may be respected. Unfortunately that will take another 100 years. In the mean time Indians will live like slumdog millionaires. Give them 2 houses each because they brought honour to the country!! Its such an achievement is it not? showing the real india. When the whole country is one slum u want power
Democrats won't let India be equal partnersBy: Manoj | Thursday , 9 Jul '09 20:14:20 PM Reply | Forward Who wants to give its position of prominence without a fight? Would you ? India will have to fight it out .... by hook or crook. Please remember Democrats wants India but as their slaves, not their equal partner. The nuclear deal would never have happened had Democrats been in power. Hilary Clinton once commented, though in jest, that Mahatma Gandhi comes from the country who fills petrol in their petrol pumps (and not the IT czars, doctors and academician Indians who flood their country !!!). Got their mindset?
UNSCBy: D.A.Eswar | Thursday , 9 Jul '09 19:20:21 PM Reply | Forward Our PM Dr.MMS has done blunder by signing Indo Nuclear Deal favouring US without bargaining for US support for Permanent Seat in UN Security Council.Even our PM declared Indians love Bush the previous President of US when US doesnot support India in any matter. It is unfortnate in the name of secularism Indians support a Congress Govt which doesnot work.
So, it is obviousBy: Kalidas M | Thursday , 9 Jul '09 18:49:29 PM Reply | Forward So, it is obvious. A nexus of USA-China-Papistan working against us. I see it as a very alarming situation.
Nothing is just given because we ask..By: Chethan Prabhu | Thursday , 9 Jul '09 18:43:59 PM Reply | Forward The Indian Government needs to learn some lessons in hard bargaining from China and Pakistan. India should move more army units to the border with Pakistan to disrupt the US/Pak operations in Afghanistan and demand a commitment to this as part of the negotiations.
