I've support on gay rights within Cabinet: Ramadoss

Chennai, October 1:: Faced with stiff resistance from the Union Home Ministry for his efforts to do away with Section 377 of IPC which penalises gay sex, Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said he and other ‘like-minded’ colleagues planned to meet PM Manmohan Singh and seek a solution. Ramadoss also called for  ....Read more

There are more important issuesBy: Kumaraguru | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 16:00:49 PM Reply | Forward Our primary health centers are awaful without medicines and doctors. Even after spending millions polio is noy yet eradicated. Dr. Ramadoss please concentrate on more important things. Ramadoss and his father are more interested in gimmicks to catch attention.
Attention is exactly what is needed, they are functioning within their job categories and doing so in the most appropriate manner, so why not?By: Frederick Smit | Tuesday , 4 Nov '08 18:29:39 PM Reply | Forward As health minister, i would imagine something that requires attention should receive attention. Are you suggesting that the health minister should ignore health concerns which affect an estimated 4.5 million men in the country who sleep with other men [a shocking 86% of these males who have intercourse with other males], and that does not necessarily indicate or imply that these men are faithful to each other and or are only having sexual intercourse with men. And this figure is rising rapidly. These men could easily be sleeping with female partners, they most likely also sleep with prostitutes and who is to say they are using condoms and have access to medical help, exactly they do not, it is illegal to treat a gay man for sexual transmitted disease, and so even straight people could get HIV, which may have originally been transferred from a gay person to a bisexual person and then to a straight person, these men are not only sleeping with men, think about arranged marriages where the man prefers men..easily imagined link of cross infection, and not even imagined, it is happening for real!.Why should the minister ignore one problem in favour of another, the problem wont go away if ignored, it will only get worse. If you think im lying i would invite you to try a physical experiment on yourself as a visual, tangible, realistic display and or lesson to demonstrate the point i am making. This involves cutting your arm with a rusty nail and seeing if it gets better if you do not seek medical attention, in fact try ignoring it completely and focus only on feeding and sheltering yourself and being employed, i assure you if you do not clean it, or treat it you may end up losing use of that arm, if not the whole arm all together. My apologies for the offense, however it was necessary to illustrate that attention should be given to all sectors of health, particualrly the ones of most significance, for what at first is only a cut on the arm, could mean only one arm, meaning your bodily ability becomes reduced. Ie manpower in the country, labour forces reduced, overall trade outputy and export potential is directly affected, adversly, if something of this nature is ignored.Kindly allow your mind to be open to the broader spectrum of possibilities which potentially exist within the confines and surrounds of this topic and realise that all health is interconnected just as the various ministries are reliant, dependant and subservient of each other. I agree there are other pressing health concerns and appreciate your views on this. I do not however perceive or necessarily agree that the minister is attention seeking [perhaps i am ignorant to other facts, which you may have ommitted in your comment], even if he is, its bringing light to matters of importance indirectly, so if he is doing bad, he is simultaneously doing good, and there is no harm in that. One agenda serves another. Politics my friend is something calculated, precise and sure to achieve whatever it desires, you can not fight the system, you simply have to find a way to draw attention significantly in the direction you want it to go.If the society is following like sheep, lead them where you want them to go and they ill do what you want. this is every government around the world. An intelligent person would find a way to m,aniulate the system to get what is needed without a drastic change, and enter diplomacy, tacy, reality and cunning.Let the man do his job. We cant say for sure if it will work or not and in the meantime attention is being given to a subject in great need of addressing.Thank you for leaving a comment which can be debated upon and discussed.Whilst reading over this comment i noticed some points may be offensive to others if not explained and therefore i would like to add that i respect other cultures and traditions which societies have, for example arranged marriages, hopwever in my own soiciety this is not the practice.I do not invalidate these poractices simply because i am not following them myself, however i am simply usoing these examples to illustrate the possibility and in fact the actual occurence and possible avenues by which infection from the gay community can pass into the straight community. Therefore to protect yourselves, protect gay people.HIV is not a gay disease, but it is prevalent in this community, just bear that in mind as well. It did not start with us necessarily and it will definitely not end with us.We are all in this together, so stop fighting each other and lets find a way to save us all instead of trying to save only some, because if you do not protect all, you protect none.
Gay Rights and they are wrong!.By: SUDHAKAR MALPE | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 15:52:19 PM Reply | Forward India is not yet ready for this issue. Dr. Ramdoss should spend his energies on eradication of other maladies like Malaria, TB, Cancer and Diariah first; rather then wasting time on this issue.
ALTERNATIVE APPROACHBy: Anonymous | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 15:43:13 PM Reply | Forward That will be a cure worse than the disease. We might conquer AIDS and move on, but Homosexuality and other deviant forms of sexual behaviour will continue to haunt humanity for much much longer. A better compromise would be to treat homosexuality as a non-criminal deviant behaviour that needs counselling and correction - than begin to treat it as a legitimate way of intimate interaction between humans.
What makles correction necessary?By: Frederick Smit | Tuesday , 4 Nov '08 18:06:57 PM Reply | Forward Whilst i recognise validity within the context of your comment, i would like to ask why you feel homosexuality is something which REQUIRES correction.Medically speaking all sciences have shown that genetically it is possible to inherit homosexuality and related tendencies from our oredecessors.Psychiatry, another form of reliable medical information, has also proved that interaction with others and environmental factors can also have an impact on a persons sexuality of way of life.Social factors like peer pressure [arranged marriages is only one example-no offense intended for i realise there are benefits of some kind to these arrangements] can also have an impact.Could you please clarify as i may have misunderstood your point. Many thanks and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment which can be discussed.Frederick Smit
Gays, Ramadoss and sniajiBy: Sridhar | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 15:30:55 PM Reply | Forward PM is too busy now what with the financial instabiity and signing of Nuke deals. Ramadoss should approach Soniaji reasrding the gay problem
Who else can be approached and how do i contact these peopleBy: Frederick Smit | Tuesday , 4 Nov '08 18:35:08 PM Reply | Forward Appreciate the logic in the comment you left, you are saying this issue may not receive appropriate attention as distractions by seemingly more pressing issues may overshadow it and the seriousness of the situation may be lost in mitigation, perhaps swept under the carpet or shelved for future consideration.Who is this soniaji person and what is there role, how do i contact him or her and where can i find information about this if you do not know their direct communication links.is there a site i can visit to obtain this informantion or a number i can call?Appreciate the maturity of your comment. You have opened doors for the international gay community and helped millions of people just by making a humble, but extremely valid point. Our thanks are with you
