New Delhi, November 19:: An Indian naval frigate sunk a pirate vessel after repulsing an attack in the Gulf of Aden in a significant blow to the sea brigands at the heart of their operations in a third successive strike in as many weeks. pirates nuisanceBy: VJ | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 20:10:09 PM Reply | Forward Good job done by our Navy, when even the US ships could not ward off hijacking of Saudi supertanker carrying millions of crude barrels !!
Well done! Do same thing here too!By: Ajay, Pune | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 17:22:45 PM Reply | Forward Great work! May be we should deploy Navy in Parliament and clean up the MPs (Member of Pirates) there!
OK?By: RAMESH PATEL | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 17:13:46 PM Reply | Forward WE HOPE WHATEVER NAVY IS CLAIMING IS TRUTH. DOING THINGS IN INTERNATIONAL WATERS IS A STICKY ISSUE. WE CAN NOT DO THINGS LIKE WE DO IN INDIA LIKE BEATING A SUSPECT AND ASKING HIM TO SIGN A STSTEMENT WRITTEN BY A CISTOMS (OR A POLICE) INSPECTOR (I WAS A CUSTOMS INSPECTOR IN INDIA 1974 TO 80). THESE TRICKS MAY NOT WORK. THESE PIROTS ARE NOT A MATCH TO ANY ARMY. BUT THERE ARE MANY ISSUES INVOLVED, THERE ARE EVEN US NAVY REFRAINS FROM DOING SO.
WE ARE PROUD OF YOU !By: Girish Bhardwaj | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 16:42:50 PM Reply | Forward I congradulate Indian Navy for this success. Somalia waters are disturbed
piratesBy: paul | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 15:16:30 PM Reply | Forward Is there any independent verification of all these things. The US navy, British Navy and other nato ships were there, non of the reported anything. And within one month of being there the Indain navy ship is involved in too many incidents. And i don't thing a priate vessal will come to attack a naval ship with grenede launchers. Please I am not targetting the navy but just some thoughts.
PiratesBy: Swapan Chakravarthy | Thursday , 20 Nov '08 10:06:11 AM Reply | Forward The question bogs the minds of all thinkers. But I guess that what Indian Navy has done is just their duty. The NATO forces and the US too have hugely armed ships that have shown no active role (USS Coles needs to be mentioned). Besides, I suspect the mercernaries from these Navies are involved. This morning I read a newsreport that an Australian mining company with interests in the region is behind the Somali Pirates.
piratesBy: satish | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 22:38:50 PM Reply | Forward You should not depend on the British Navy Paul. When they catch the pirates, they just hand over them to the country having rights over that waterway (eg: recently Kenya). The pirates are soon on the waterways again because of corruption in those countries. The INS is right to take the philosophy of IF YOU PLAY WITH FIRE.. YOU CAN GET BURNT.

not a good question to poseBy: Aravind | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 21:05:22 PM Reply | Forward Indian navy does not give such wrong statements. they stand in the IMBL so they take on pirates but these NATO or those lazy guys they just sleep in a harbour and where will the pirates come to attack them?
doubting thomas !By: VJ | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 20:07:27 PM Reply | Forward please continue to think along, like you indicated, you can enjoy your delusion and dreamworld !!Just open your eyes and see CNN at least sometimes !If you are adamant about not acknowledging Indian Navy's triumphs, for whatever reasons, let it be so, but do not delude yourself with closed eyes and minds !! Pity you !
piratesBy: Appu | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 17:50:24 PM Reply | Forward What do you mean "US, british and other Nato" ships were there? Under the disguise of being polite, are you sugesting that only the nato guys can do good things? what a childish suggestion. If u r a brit, better stay away from indian navy. :)

Doubting TomBy: Alf | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 16:52:17 PM Reply | Forward Paul - the Western Navies perhaps enjoy the escalation of these instances; they are always at the wrong side of the wars. Western Navies always ahve friendly fire, unlike Indian.
We are a 1 billion nation not 1 millionBy: C.K.Sunil | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 15:14:08 PM Reply | Forward Hats off to the sailors and officers of the INS Tabar. Indian army also has to do the same thing on the border areas of Pak
You did job assignedBy: Nem Jain | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 15:06:25 PM Reply | Forward Well done INS Tabar. Offence is the best defence. But make sure to take other countries of the area in confidence to protect vital shipping routes from pirates.
Indian navy foils pirates!By: Tapan Bose( Flt.Lt.IAF-Retd.) | Wednesday , 19 Nov '08 14:12:34 PM Reply | Forward Good shooting! Keep it up! The only thing these criminal pirates understand is the power of the gun. Congrats Indian Navy officers
