Karkare: 'An iconic hero at the service of the nation'

New Delhi: Nation pays rich tributes to its hero Hemant Karkare, an IPS officer who laid his life in the line of duty while fighting the terrorists from the front as the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). With the country living in a constant terror ridden atmosphere and questioning the efficacy of  ....Read more

Advani should apologiseBy: KUMAR | Friday , 28 Nov '08 9:50:44 AM Reply | Forward Let the idiotic opposition leader Advani (who spew venom against this iconic Police officer for fighting against terrorists irrespective of their religion) now apologise the nation. Mr Advani. Think twice before you open your mouth against our cops. We respect only them and not persons like you who bark at terrorists with Z category protection.

Karkare: 'An iconic hero at the service of the nation'By: Satish | Friday , 28 Nov '08 9:40:45 AM Reply | Forward i am startled to note that the NSG has been called from New dlehi to fight the terrorists, even inspite of facing the terror for the last 15 (atleast) 20 years, still the Mumbai has to have the facilities to fight terrorists from other sources. It is to be seen where we lacked resources or planning or anything. If we are fully prepared then atleast the tolls can be minimised to great extent the lives of top brass officers like Karkare, Kamte. Hats of those who laid their lives and tribute to all deseased.
secular terroristsBy: Asitava Bhowmik | Friday , 28 Nov '08 9:33:19 AM Reply | Forward Instead of working on the behest of Dirty politicians to proove that hindus are also terrorist, Karkare should have spent his time to fight against islamic terrorist, he lost his life because he underestimated the real threath or just unaware of it. Now the police should not work for the so called seculars, instead they should take the fight to the anti nationals whoever he may be.
Poor LeadershipBy: Veer Bahadur Singh | Friday , 28 Nov '08 9:22:25 AM Reply | Forward I fully sympathize with the families of the Police officers killed. I however, would put the blame for loss of these lives on our politicians and senior police officers who do not have a full idea of their own capabilities. Otherwise how could a 54 year old senior police officer, who is more used to desk work in Police headquarters and 9 years of diplomatic work in Austria, rather than in field operations, walk into the middle of an ongoing terrorist operation? TV images show this officer dressed in casual clothes, putting on his bullet proof vest and trying to wear but finally carrying in hand, a poor fitting tin helmet. He walking into the hotel, without a weapon in hand, only to be shot to death a few minutes later. This surely does not show professionalism of a high caliber. This shows a lack of appreciation of the situation and overconfidence. It is the poor leadership that has resulted in the deaths of several police constables and junior officers.
Sheer Bravado sans tactical senseBy: Bharata | Friday , 28 Nov '08 9:45:33 AM Reply | Forward Sheer Bravado without tactical sense led to Mr Karkare's death. The police top brass must learn from the Army on how to lead by example. Not merely jumping into action and endangering his officers and men. Mr Karkare was martyred without tactical sense. The IPS needs to learn from the Army.
example of high confidence By: sarma | Friday , 28 Nov '08 9:42:09 AM Reply | Forward we indians have a dirty habit of being casual always at every place. the result is disasterous
TRIBUTEBy: YOGESH MITTAL | Friday , 28 Nov '08 9:21:50 AM Reply | Forward Respected sir......i salute you for your extra ordinary effort. For the first time in history of IPS that an officer of ADGP rank led from front and led down his life. You would probably go down as most senior police officer who was killed on duty.May your soul rest in peace and may god provide courage to your family to face this situation.
