Navy chief’s latest: I don’t talk to fools

New Delhi: A day after he lashed out at the media at the annual Navy briefing, calling it a ‘disabling factor’ and accusing a leading television channel of causing casualties during the Kargil war, Admiral Sureesh Mehta once again showed his disdain for the media at the Navy Day ceremony. The Admiral when  ....Read more

Code of ethics to keep one's mindset upright.By: Dr.Chandran Peechulli | Friday , 5 Dec '08 11:29:05 AM Reply | Forward Admiral Sureesh Mehta, Chief of Naval Staff need to be committed, responsible and be dedicated, maintaining the decency and decorum of the high office of the nation and avoid loose comments of critic to the public. Media has an enormous influence on every single one of us who are living on this planet. It is like calling himself as a fool to his ignorance.
the elite mediaBy: Yatendra Kumar | Friday , 5 Dec '08 11:03:21 AM Reply | Forward Our media particularly the media for elite group of society and their journalists think that they are above law, just because of freedom of press in our country. This group of media works only for higher class or for the pseudo secularists. They have no pain for the sufferings of common people. Every one has witnessed this during Mumbai attacks. Our elite media did not cover the Funerals of our MARTYRS who were in the lower ranks in the armed forces. Were their sacrifices less than those of other Martyrs ? Also no focus on CST, because only poor peoples died there ?? Now they are questioning the integrity of our Naval Chief ...It is disgusting.

The elite mediaBy: P.VENKATASUBRAMANIAN | Friday , 5 Dec '08 16:45:46 PM Reply | Forward Well said. The correspondents of the English media, especially visual media, think they are the authorities on any subject under the sun. Their opinions are not well researched and are of the cuff. Sometimes the opinions are perfunctory and biased.
Navy ChiefBy: aman shankar | Friday , 5 Dec '08 1:21:28 AM Reply | Forward It is a shock that Indian media has lost all sense of shame. Just because they can not hear things that please them and just because they can not put words into a navy admiral's mouth and just because he speaks the truth they will even go to the extent of defaming a soldiers of India. What admiral Suresh Mehta said was accurate and instead of holding Barkha Dutt's feet to the fire because of what she has been doing, the media is taking out its wrath on an honorable general. Barkha Dutt is an anti-national media person. She is anti everyone who is Hindu. She would go to any extent to make sure that her media personality shines even if it means killing Indian soldiers in Kargil, even if it means making calling the victims of terrorism in India responsible for the fate that they are meeting because according to her they are somehow not treating every other muslim in the highest esteem. Shame on you media for shielding your own ugliness by trying to insult an Indian soldier
Navy ChiefBy: P.VENKATASUBRAMANIAN | Friday , 5 Dec '08 16:51:32 PM Reply | Forward Well said. The English media have been polarizing the society for a long time now. In the name of so called secularism their reporting has been totally biased. In certain times they they have exceeded their limits.
Navy Chief - Coverage of MediaBy: Patriotic Indian | Friday , 5 Dec '08 11:19:58 AM Reply | Forward Though electronic media in english language along with their counterparts made a shrill, obsessive and round the clock coverage of the Mumbai seige, for all their efforts they did not cover the events fully and without partiality. Very little coverage was done of the events at the CST where more than 60 ordinary indians have lost their lives but for the quickwittedness of the announcers there, the toll would have been much higher. I got all these facts from the print media only. Though the Government in power was solely responsible for the safety and security of the citizens, these channels have turned the national tragedy into a hate campaign against the political class as a whole. I am now 43 years old and over the last 33 years our country has achieved tremendous progress - in the fields of agriculture, space, sports, empowerment of various sections of the society, single party monopoly to coalitions to name a few and the socalled political class definitely responsible in no small way for all these developments. I suggest to these channels, to stand up and participate in the democracy if they are so outraged about the quality and performance of all the present politicians.
