When asked about stepping down, he says he has 'blessings from his leader'...when asked about change of clothes, he asks not to criticize his clothes....First of all, he should have admitted that his ministry did not do enough and that it will do what it takes to improve intellegence gathering mechanisms (even if it meant help from CIA, Mosad or KGB)...Secondly, he should have said that with the resources available, we've done the best we could. If I truly believed I was wrong, I would have stepped down (not imply that I care not about the country thinks of me..I care only about my 'leader's blessings).....Thirdly, no one is criticizing his clothes - they are perfect....People are only criticizing his callous attitude - to have appropriated so much time to changing clothes when a pressing matter was to be handled by his ministry....I think he's just old and insane!

UPA came to power on the promise that they will repeal POTA and they did so in 2004, Sonia and Manmohan asked the Police and Intelligence agencies to "go slow" - all this is public news, why blame Patil?! It is now their plan, probably, to publicly discredit Patil and throw him out to buy some time.
