Our nightmare, our wake-up call

How does a democracy of billion-plus people respond when a few madmen tear the heart out of its financial capital and shatter its soul? The question has to be asked because it is only adversity of such staggering magnitude that shakes up slumbering, old civilizations to turn it into an opportun  ....Read more

WHO ARE THE REAL CULPRITSBy: kiran | Friday , 28 Nov '08 21:31:08 PM Reply | Forward There is a lot of talk around blaming our political system and our politicians for the Mumbai meham, of course we cannot trust these rats, but we are missing out on HE bigger bandicoots , the army and navy, these are the guys who protect our borders, what have they done in all these years, infiltration has only increased, the army, navy, BSF and coast guards are the real culprits, had they been honest to their duty, we would not even have a insect from pakistan or bangladesh enter our land. High time we pull up these guys, or else in a state of war, WE HAD IT.
who are the real culpritsBy: srikanth | Friday , 28 Nov '08 22:13:57 PM Reply | Forward yeah, so why dont you some courage, pick up that gun, sit in rarified atmosphere without proper equipement to survive bcos some babu wants to know why you need it? i suggest you do that first and then if you can survive the babu's question, then we'll have a debate??!!!
Something has to be doneBy: Amit | Friday , 28 Nov '08 21:29:39 PM Reply | Forward Mr. Gupta's write up is write on the mark. If we cannot wake up and make amends now, we all should hang our heads in shame. It's time for all the people in India to unite and not let this tragedy make us fall victim to hatred and communalism
Fighting TerrorismBy: Barak | Friday , 28 Nov '08 21:28:03 PM Reply | Forward We should develope technologies as fast as possible to get the world away from OIL. This will reduce the money in hands of these nations and terrorism will be weakened by lack of money which is very crucial. I think that is the best we can do.
Too Little Too LATE Mr. Editor .....By: SSS | Friday , 28 Nov '08 21:22:47 PM Reply | Forward If after 11 terror attacks the editor believes that now is the time to wake up... I ask him why now ? I hate these fake media outlets and self styled editors.... BS...... Read his article--- Fair one would say see how he holds all the political parties responsible.
unity!By: Padmini | Friday , 28 Nov '08 21:12:02 PM Reply | Forward Even if the government has shown such an insipid response, stories of heroism at the individual level continue to inspire all of us. The story about the South African commandos who single handedly rescued the large group of people in the restaurant in the top floor is an outstanding tribute to what humanity is all about. Instead of pointing fingers, we should rise above petty internal squabbles and unite to fight terrorism. And lastly, my heart weeps for the 2-year-old son of the rabbi and his wife who were brutally killed today...may the souls of all the victims rest in peace.
Our nightmare....will remain a nightmare till the next oneBy: Baba | Friday , 28 Nov '08 21:11:40 PM Reply | Forward I suppose you have made some valid but commonly known points but largely your article comes across as a hastlily written under prepared piece of literature. It lacks substance and does not give the reader a warm feeling of having read something meaningful, honest
Act now!By: Sana | Friday , 28 Nov '08 19:49:50 PM Reply | Forward The first step is to acknowledge that there is a problem in these people who only want instability in India. The government instead of appeasing minorities should actually act on providing security to all the people especially to the the borders , along the seas and along land. Come up with a homeland security team and educate the literates and illiterates on basic intelligence, it all costs but it is the need of the hour now. This is the time to act not talk, where is Sonia now, not one word out of her mouth. The fact is that the governments we have so far had have all ignored terrorism and look what we have in our hands. No one knows how to handle this situation in India. This is unprecedented situation, everyone was only worried as to how much money they could make at the cost of general public. Now they can worry about if they are all going to be alive. These so called elite are the ones that are going to be affected now. Shame on all our leaders and media. No professionalism.
EditBy: amakant | Friday , 28 Nov '08 18:44:53 PM Reply | Forward Just shows how hollow media is. Melodramatic. The Malegaon case is akin to a Witch Hunt led by willing servants of their masters. Justice will prevail. And no thanks to mdeia.
Protect our Honest OfficersBy: abdul | Friday , 28 Nov '08 18:41:59 PM Reply | Forward Whatever happened cannot be forgotten by the people of India, but the worst thing happened is that we lost the brave person Hemant Karkare. People of India are so confused at the moment they are not ready to trust what they see. The politicians as made a bad effect on the people of India. Similar way I am thinking all what happened is done Just to kill Hemant Karkare because he was dealing with a sensitive Case.
Why should I wake up?By: viren | Friday , 28 Nov '08 18:40:16 PM Reply | Forward So Mr Shekhar Gupta has woken up now! Or is he trying to wake others ? Why should we wake up when the government is sleeping. Government says keep calm, so we are keeping calm. When the governemnt will say fight we will fight. When goverenment will ask to wake up then we will wake up. Why should we wake up at the call of shekhar gupta. if shekhar want to wake up then let him wake up. i am going to sleep.
