New Delhi, November 23: : With the armed forces insisting on a pay hike, the government has said it is "very difficult" to maintain a balance in salaries of government servants doing varied jobs. pay hike for armed forcesBy: ram | Tuesday , 23 Dec '08 20:44:02 PM Reply | Forward The civil administration(read our bureaucrats/ police friends) are inept at handling any situation,be it floods, famine, tsunami, even pulling out kids from wells! They want the armed forces for every thing. Even after 26/11, if the core issues are not addressed, god save this country

goog jobBy: mohan | Saturday , 6 Dec '08 18:52:30 PM Reply | Forward Pretty Good job Mr. Cabinet secretary eh? This time I wish there was a rep from the defense who could have blown the whistle on you bunch. I wish the babus keep their hands away from defense and allow them to decide their priorities, at work and other things. Then there is hope for this great nation.
work culture vs payBy: triveni | Thursday , 4 Dec '08 21:25:15 PM Reply | Forward Many views have been expressed on PB-4 for LT COL when all in pay of 14300/-are in PB-4. Why do not the country realise the cutting edge of army have to kept sharp. You saw Bombay Blast and now wanting to spend thousands of crores. we have every thing intelligence, police, civil administration all sitting with PB -4 and throwing mud at each other. Check their charter of duties, see the feild work, check their legal acts and copare all this with the genuine demand of LT COLs. It they who are team leaders, who excute, who move with their jawans. Yet you do not want to put them in PB-4 when all others with 14300/- have been given. Lets do some justice.
pay parity defenceBy: monica | Tuesday , 25 Nov '08 22:12:01 PM Reply | Forward Can the IE send these messages to the subject please. And does he realise that behind the polemic there are deep truths about upholding the nations's interests that the IAS is presumably also sworn to. And pse dont ignore this as something merely from the urban and the urbane. The rural electorate thinks the same way. The forces collectively have on many occasions done their job as trustees of the nation. When will it be the collective turn of the exalted civil service. Or are we taking globalisation too literally.
Difficult TaskBy: ybs | Tuesday , 25 Nov '08 17:24:48 PM Reply | Forward Mr.Chandrasekhar it is concern to the Defence personnel so it is s difficult if it would had been for burocrates like you it would have been very easy. Shame on you part.

Burocrats made situation worseBy: Dr Umesh K Dash | Monday , 24 Nov '08 12:58:58 PM Reply | Forward Pay parity was not actualy a difficult task as it was mentioned in the initial report of pay commission. But the committee of secrateries who are looking at the final recommendations introduced huge disparity by selectively ignoring Armed Forces and taking care of own and Paramilitary. Hope better sense will prevail this time, otherwise our Armed Forces will be demorilised that will afect their overall performance and security of the country. Many bright, patriotic young man will join in Armed Forces and India will be a strong country. At the same time wards of Politican and Buroctrats can also join the Armed Forces as it is there in other countries like USA and England. Examples are Eishenhower, JFK,Bush and Mcaine of USA and the Grand Sons of Queen of England.
Government is responsible for this situationBy: Satyakatha | Monday , 24 Nov '08 12:51:02 PM Reply | Forward This is the actual reason behind the government's witch hunt against the Armed forces, by arresting Lt. Co. S P Purohit, the government wants to suppress any opposition from the Armed forces.Who asked the government to create white elephants demanding more than 1 lakh crores. The armed forces must get their dues, thats that.reduce the salalries of government employees in the civilian sector and give the armed forces the desired hike.
SixthCPCBy: Prabhakar | Monday , 24 Nov '08 12:00:17 PM Reply | Forward Mr. Chandrasekhar is not right. One fundamental question still remains unanswered. Why did the committee of Secretaries headed by him recommend inclusion of Director level officers in the pre-revised scale of 14300- in PB-4 while the 6th Pay Commission has recommended for placing them in PB-3.This group of officers got a monthly benefit of 25000/- which is much beyond what everybody else got and this is the basic cause all heart burn taking place in Defence and discreetly in among Deputy Secretaries. Mr. Chandra sekhar cannot absolve of himself for creating this mess now. He should have been cautious and careful while making such recommendations with undue benefit with no additional responsibility to a group of officers like Directors. Even now if the pay of Directors in the pre revised scale of 14300- is moderated and their benefit is made uniform then the other problems will get automatically sorted out.Does Mr. chandrasehkar got the moral courage to do it !!!!
