Raj Thackeray accepts Big B's apology

Mumbai, September 11:: MNS chief Raj Thackeray called off the agitation against the Bachchans that threatened to stall the release of movies starring the family members over Jaya's alleged anti-Marathi remarks, saying he was satisfied with the apology offered by megastar Amitabh. "Actually, Jaya Bachchan should have   ....Read more

Raj Thackeray's goondaismBy: Anurag | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 20:44:17 PM Reply | Forward Raj Thackeray, is unfortunately not the first one to launch such a parochial agitation, nor is he going to be the last one. I come Gujarat, and like in other states of India, there are Marathi people in Gujarat too. And like "outsiders" in Mumbail, many of these marathi people, along with people from other states in Gujara,t donot speak Gujarati, and also look down upon Gujaratis in general. However, I donot mean to suggest that Gujarat should also do what MNS is doing. If there is a grievance, this kind of goondaism is not the way to address it. I suggest that people all over India should start doing the same to those Marathis outside Maharashtra who donot make an effort to mix with the locals. Then let us see what Raj Thackeray says. There is plenty of space in Maharashtra for Marathis who emmigrated all across the world. When they will be forced to flee U.S, U.K, Australia, european countries, Gujarat, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad they will understand.
What a joke?By: Illogical | Friday , 12 Sep '08 0:13:36 AM Reply | Forward Do you know there are more than 25% Marathis in Baroda. Same is the situation with Indore and Ujjain. Have you heard about anti-local statements from those people. Do you know Rajnikant, the most loved person in Tamil Nadu is Marathi? There are many Gujarathis in most cities in Maharashtra and other states. What will happens if Gujarathis are kicked out?
Raj Thakeray By: SMSingru | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 20:28:13 PM Reply | Forward People who are lambasting Raj Thakeray are obviously living in a world of there own. When I spoke to a number of my Maharshtrian friends who happen to be well educated and from the upper middle class in Pune, I was taken aback by the popular support which Raj enjoys on this specific issue from them. And they were all also unanimous that a fine officer like Prasad should not have used such language, particularly when he is not a party to the controversy.
ALL IS WELL THAT ENDS WELL, but forethought is advisable always.By: MMK Rao | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 20:04:39 PM Reply | Forward When celebrities, who command such glaring publicity through the media and in advertisements and promos, make statements, they should do so after duly weighing the sensibilities of the masses and possible exploitations of what they say by their representatives by working on those sensibilities. Yes, it is good that a deity of the cine world apologized to a political leader, so that no more repercussions wil be likely in future. There is a general lesson. It is much easier that problems are avoided thus by forethought, than without it as agitations can be started that inconvenience all sections of people.
Wake up Maha politicians and stop these blackmailersBy: Prabhakar Chavhan | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 19:54:39 PM Reply | Forward If the Thackreys are not banned , thye financial ,industrial and technological institutions will strat moving out of Mumbai and Maharashtra to more friendlier sites. This is a writing on the wall. These institutions cannot function in such bad atmosphere which has been created by Thyackreys . Wake up Maha politicians and act now to stop the Thackreys.
Pack up and get out!By: Roshanlal | Friday , 12 Sep '08 0:05:35 AM Reply | Forward Who the hell bothers if all industries, financial institutions move out of Mumbai and Maharashtra. Nobody invited them. They found suitable atmosphere, hence they came. If they want to leave, no one is going to stop them. Your India is there since 1947, Maharashtra is thousands of years old. Dont threaten with foolish arguments. If you have your own industry, pack up and leave. You be with your Mulayam, Amarsingh, Mayawati and the joker Lallu. This is Marathi land and we rule over here. You are all at our mercy. Beggars are not choosers. If you want advice, consult Jaya. She will update your knowledge.
Rowdism Rocks!By: Nation | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 19:40:10 PM Reply | Forward What a big gesture, really Raj you are such a humble person...This proves one thing that you have mastered the craft of intimidation from your Uncle (Bal Thackeray) well.Holding people almost like hostages, causing huge business losses seems to be the daily agenda of parties like Shiv Sena, MNS, Bajran Dal, VHP etc...Shame on these thugs...Government should have thrown this fiend to jail for harassing gentleman like Amitabh who is a national treasure....
Be Spscific to MNSBy: Kamal | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 20:10:49 PM Reply | Forward Don't pull other political parties in the discussion. Be specific to MNS only. Shiv sena, Bajrang Dal or VHP has never said that people are not allowed to speak in National language and all of them believes in One India. try to write your real name instead of nation.
BigotryBy: Neil | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 19:24:34 PM Reply | Forward I guess the time has come to tough stand and stop this bigotry of Raj Thackeray. He thinks that he is running a parallel government in Maharashtra. He should be behind the bars for his anti-national activities. The question is whether the Maharashtra government has balls to do that....
ReplyBy: Abhi | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 19:59:22 PM Reply | Forward Gents,All comments are against Raj and asking for Govt action, but Govt is not taking action becoz local sentiments are with Raj.If you read any marathi newspaper surely everybody has got disturbed by Jaya's orogance. Govt know this hence doesnot want to take action.
Raj Thakre accepts Bg B's ApologyBy: vijoy | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 19:10:39 PM Reply | Forward With highly inflated ego, Raj says "Maaf Kiya".He did not realise asto what he missed and how Big B scored over him.Stangely the silence of Marathi intellectuals has helped the ego of Raj Thakre to be inflated. While it is a truth that all Maharashtrians are hard core nationalists except of course this MNS chief
thackery the joker By: brando | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 18:59:44 PM Reply | Forward why are we giving so much importance to this joker Thackery. It is the media and the police responsible for it. The media for its TRP ratings uses his antics to get viewers. Th ePolice takes the commission. They don't have guts to arrest him but are actually protecting him. The state governing politicans are mixed up with him to encourage him against the Seniot THackerys. The senior Thackery are gutless and shit bothered.
Raj VS Amitabh/JayaBy: Ashok Mehdiratta | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 18:41:21 PM Reply | Forward It is rather unfortunate that even the comments by the readers are showing the tendencies of division on linguistic basis.Local customs are to be respected and one must integrate with the society where one lives and earns his/her livelihood.I am sure that Bachchans will be knowing Marathi to the extent that they themselves feel part of the Maratha Land.I can say that in this regards our Army is much better. The Officers from South Indians/Those from Eastern States know/learn the language of their soldiers because National Integration is the fundamental bed rock of Indian Army.An issue is being made out of a non issue. However Raj's language/actions are deplorable and he needs to aplogise to the people of maharashtra for lowering their image.Shri Bal Thackrey need to admonish him publicly rather than writing editorials.
Raj Thakre Accepts Big B's ApologyBy: Vijoy | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 18:28:06 PM Reply | Forward With so much of highly inflated ego Raj says"Maaf Kiya". Poor Amitabh inspite of having so much of support from the public had to eat an humble pie in front of Raj. It is because the Marathi intellectuals
