Raj Thackeray accepts Big B's apology

Mumbai, September 11:: MNS chief Raj Thackeray called off the agitation against the Bachchans that threatened to stall the release of movies starring the family members over Jaya's alleged anti-Marathi remarks, saying he was satisfied with the apology offered by megastar Amitabh. "Actually, Jaya Bachchan should have   ....Read more

Tone was wrongBy: Nikhilesh | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 15:31:52 PM Reply | Forward One should see the clipping to realise what went wrong in Mrs. Jaya Bachchan's speech. Her tone was quite sarcastic when she said "We will speak in Hindi, Maharashtrawale hame maaf kare". True that Mr. Thakre stretchd the point too hard, it is also true that Mrs. Bachchan should have avoided such tone
A Good Point Brought in Wrong manner:By: Kamal | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 15:06:06 PM Reply | Forward Thanks to Bangali Mumbaikar for bringing the issue of Abu Azmi. A good point brought up by Dr. B.N. Anand, I am partially agree with Him. I have doubted from the very beginning that there is something more political than this Hindi Issue. Well one thing for sure that Raj is well known to Indians as well to other part of world, thanks to Bachhan family. ONE SHOULD RESPECT THE LOCAL CUTURE, ONE LIVES IN, IS THE BEST WAY TO MINGLE INTO THE LOCAL SOCIETY (DOES NOT NECESSARY MEANS SPEAKING HINDI). Every one in this country should try to speak Hindi as Hindi is the national language (Not because one belongs to Up or Northern state). Language should be the medium to unite the country not to separate the country. ALTHOUGH RAJ RAISED A GOOD POINT (IN WRONG WAY), BUT HE MUST BE STOPPED AFTER CHALLENGING THE MUMBAI POLICE COMMISSIONER TO COME ON THE STREET AFTER REMOVING POLICE UNIFORM, BADGE AND CHAIR.
Frankastine in MakingBy: An Observer | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 14:42:26 PM Reply | Forward Raj launched a vitriolic attack on Mumbai Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) K L Prasad for his alleged remarks that " Mumbai does not belong to any individual". "Prasad should remove his police uniform, badge and chair and come onto the street and then he will realise to whom Mumbai belongs," he said. Well if this is the statement of leader who cliams to be a responsible (though all acts are irresponsible till now) citizen of the country with abilities (or inherited) to lead then he is out to destroy Mumbai not save it!Region, Language, Culture,Tradition is not spread with acts of agression or frenzy projections but they are soft power with which you can win over hearts and soul of each and every one! With his humble and polite gesture Amitabh has proven that soft power can give you meteoric sustained rise than fizzle of agression which can never be prolonged! He has belittled MrRaj by millions of light years! Hope MrRaj learns from the exemplary act of MrAmitabh!!!
Jaya's comments- Big B's apologyBy: shirish | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 13:59:03 PM Reply | Forward Individuals like Jaya Bachhan who, being a MP is a public figure- while appearing and speaking at any public function should behave, talk responsibly. The comments were certainly not innocent as is being made out now and more importantly they were totally out of context. All the bravery of these people is here in Maharshtra and in Mumbai. Does any one have guts to utter any words like these in South, or in Assam or Bengal? Here of course there is a lesson to Maharashtrian leaders as well-they should talk in Marathi when any comment is required to be made in front of the media. If required they will translate in other languages. Look at Southern leaders, even Mr. Modi of Gujrat - no body speaks in any other language in front of media than their state language.
HOW WELL IS BOMBAY MARKETING ITS IMAGE? NOT VERY WELL, I AM SAD TO SAY WITH THESE THACKERAY TRISHANKUSBy: SUBHASH SAMPAT | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 14:22:48 PM Reply | Forward If a study were to be conducted which compares a town's or a city’s assets against how well it markets its image, Mumbai will definitely be deemed to have the worst brand and assets in the whole of India and throughout the world. Not only that but this negative image has been so overplayed by these Marathi jerks and windbags that it is doing irreparable damage to the brand and is discouraging national and foreign tourism, trade and investments to the detriment of the city, state and the nation's economy. These Trishankus - Bal, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray pose an immense real threat to the whole economic and social fabric of the city and the state, nation and its people. There are many towns and cities in the world, especially those of Britain and Europe which are leading examples of towns and cities that have got its enlightened leaders together and focused on what they want to be known for. On the other hand, we have these intellectually sterile Taporis with absolutely no knowledge of economics or any other social disciplines who are fighting for some sterile and redundant racial, language and culture dogmas. If not put out forever, they will soon turn this city into a fishing village that it once was.
THESE INTELLECTUALLY STERILE TAPORIS, WITH ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE OF ECONOMICS, WILL SOON TURN BOMBAY INTO A FISHING VILLAGE THAT IT ONCE WASBy: SUBHASH SAMPAT | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 14:24:59 PM Reply | Forward In the enlightened world, villages, towns and cities of the world are competing throughout their own individual nations and the wider world for national and international attraction in terms of more settlements, tourism, trade and investments. While the ignorant, incompetent idiots who want to be at the helm of state affairs are turning the wheels of progress the other way round to that moving in the rest of the world. These utterly idiotic thugs with absolutely no knowledge of economics or any other social disciplines are doing their utmost to discourage such settlements, tourism, trade and investments although Mumbai along with all other five big metropolis of Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore have a combination of assets. These include culturally diverse but homogenous and friendly communities, restaurants and eateries, archaeological sites and historical monuments, enterprise and industry biggest of which is Bollywood. These uncultured empty heads are still relying on their own narrow definitions of culture to push the city backwards to the days of the primitive herdsmen.
MNS,DEMOCRACY By: kumar | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 13:37:34 PM Reply | Forward with deep regret i have to say in a practical way rule of law has acquired a limited meaning. Now a group of committed workers of an organisation can easily threaten fundamental right of life and fundamental right to work of fellow citizen. Not satisfied with above they have started to control freedom of speech of citizens. In all state has remained a mute spectator to denial/curtail of fundamental right of its citizen by an organisation. Can MNS or any such group decide who will speak ,what he will speak,in which language one will speak? Can MNS decide who will live, who will work and who will work where? Should state remain a mute spectator in all such cases? Can state work according to its convenience/inconvenience in such cases? Its not a case of MNS.Now a group of committed person have started to effectively blaickmail state as well as individual citizen. I call upon people to resist such tendency.I call upon election commission to derecognise MNS / such group.Judiciary should act
Jayaji .. please keep quiet ...By: Bengali Mumbaikar | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 13:32:11 PM Reply | Forward Jayaji's comment was not an innocent one. She had political overtone when she spoke. There's a turf war going for Mumbai for Raj with Abu Azmi one one side and Shiv Sena on the other. I would thank Raj Thackeray to bring it to a close. People like Abu Azmi would have continued it for years .... The 1993 riots are still used so conveniently !!!
MNSBy: sharad pegalwar | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 13:08:15 PM Reply | Forward such type of vandalism should not be allowed. if in a hindi film function one cannot speak in hindi just because they are in mumbai, tomorrow MNS will say all films made in maharashtra should not have dialogs in hindi, but only in marathi. in think with such type of attacks and attack on shahrukh khan for dilliwala comments, sena outfits are exceeding their integrity limits. lacs of crores of rupees are being ciruculated in mumbai because of hindi films (bollywood) and lacs of 'indian' citizens are earning a life out of it. why cant raj make more marathi films and fill the theatres with marathi films. why cant he himself act in a national integration film in marathi. he is handsome and has all the attributes of hero. AB has come down from an angry young man in films to a meek mouse in this incident. Kudos to all. let us increase our intolerant approach so that peace can never dreamt of.
An unnecessary controversyBy: (Dr.) B.N..Anand | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 12:59:53 PM Reply | Forward Once Mr. Bachchan had withdrawn from politics after he was elected to the Parliament from which he later resigned, why he should or his family indulge in politics? Moreover, I am strong in favouyr of speaking the local language where one lives. That way one can always win over the common man. Even politicians who happen to be linguists, adopt the process of speaking in the language of the country they visit. I was in Germany fro many years and would speak German language with students there. I made sure to learn that language before going to Germany. That way , I could mix around with the society and in the process I had learnt another language. Even when foreigners visit our country, they do try to pick up local greeting words like" Namastey". That way they make themselves more polpular. So this controversy created by Mrs. Bachchan for speaking in Hindi was uncalled for as she should have been generous enough to speak in the local language.
hindiBy: kelkar | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 12:34:41 PM Reply | Forward for speaking in hindi, raj thackeray attacks the Bachhans. Speaking in Rashtra Bhasha is a crime in Maharashtra, what one can do. Does the central govt have guts to arrest Raj for working against Rashtra Bhasha? This goes against the integrity of the nation. When individuals like thackerays, banerjees, togadias threaten the secularism and integrity of the nation, the state and central governments are mere spectators. are they rulers or slaves of these guerillas. Already they fail to take action against LeTs, Dals, etc, but they are kneeling in front of such individual dakoos also. what a shame on indian democracy. if a govt does not have power and sources to contain such outbursts and criminalism of such leaders, indian future seems to be blink.
NOBy: sagar | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 13:09:13 PM Reply | Forward Mr. Kelakr if Speaking in Rashtra Bhasha is a crime in Maharashtra, then how is it possible that around 70 laks from up/bihar are in maharashtra !!!!!!
noBy: kelkar | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 13:48:29 PM Reply | Forward they speak marathi fluently. but mns has already started against them also. remember great lataji, ashabhonsleji had and are singing thousands of hindi songs. patekar, palekar, shah, et al acting in hindi films. so dont divide between those lines. accept that hindi is rashtra bhasha. those who live in maharasthra will try to learn marathi to their level best, which depends on individual ability. be reasonable.
speechBy: pegalwar | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 13:54:48 PM Reply | Forward in an audience, that consists of different people from the indian states knwoing different languages, we have to adopt a common language. Jaya opted for Hindi, rashtra bhasha, instead of English, not instead of Marathi. Any way in a marathi function you will not call jaya bachan.she did not talk in bhojpuri or bengali.appreciate that.
Raj and Party are Goondas...By: Amit Purohit | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 12:34:16 PM Reply | Forward Raj and party are goondas so in this world and India, where Prime Ministers cannot be protected, why Bachchan will fight for something which public must fight upon. Also in kaliyug these are the indications of things to come. These perrpretrators of Hindutav may aalso know that Asurs are also part of Hindu relegion and texts and they are on which role is too clear to be pointed.
Raj and Party are Goondas...By Amit PurohitBy: Sumanyu | Thursday , 11 Sep '08 14:38:50 PM Reply | Forward If you are talking of Asurs as per the Hindu mytholog thn u must be knowing that there was a Shakuni mama in the Mahabharat. You areaking to the Shakuni for the Maharashtrian Manoos. Today everyone if talking of regionalism. Look at South India where it is crime to speak Hindi. The signboards of even the KFC's, Macdonalds, the Citibanks etc are in their own regional language. It is only when the Marathi manoos asserts hmself that Shakunis like you put a spoke in its wheels. Shameon you Amit.
