religious toleranceBy: Dr B Sundara | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 10:01:17 AM Reply | Forward There is increasing religious intolerance as evidenced by the incidents in Karnataka Religions created by the humankind itself are dividing it more and more by some of the practitioners. There need to be respect for all religions. There should not be any force on to follow any particular religion. Economic weakness should not be exploited for accepting any religion. Our religious leaders may have to work for peace in the society. It appears more important that they preach the followers to respect other religions. The heads of various religions meet periodically and exchange ideas to bring peace, harmony and prosperity to the society. The religious leaders need to see how they can uplift the economically backward people. What is happening in Karnataka is undesirable. Karnataka is a state known for tolerance and progress. The image needs to be maintained. All concerned should make concerted efforts to normalize the situation and to avoid reoccurrence of such incidents.
UNIFORM CIVIL CODEBy: Renjith Nair | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 9:48:00 AM Reply | Forward It is a propaganda which got more momentum since British colonization. Please stop such business minded religious conversions. The Govt. of India must immediately implement uniform civil code otherwise this country will turn to be a place of communal violence everyday. The truth is UPA government doesn’t have the Guts and political will to do that because they won’t be in power without vote bank politics.
PSEUDO SECUALRISM RUINING INDIABy: Renjith Nair | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 9:46:18 AM Reply | Forward Today I feel there is someone in this country stood up against the immoral activities in this country which is being deliberately ignored by politicians just to appease a section of community because of vote bank politics.I am living in a country where not even a Hindu temple can't be built and do worship. It is the matter of cultural identity of India. It should be preserved at any cost.It is true that we enjoy religious freedom but it should not be misused. It is well known that certain foreign funded shadowy NGOs and evangelical outfits are carrying out illegal conversions in this country luring people in to their fold by offering money, foriegn citizenship etc.I am glad that it is being checked now. Well done Mr.Yedyurappa.We need straight forward politicians like you. The fact is, these conversions are being done to increase the political bargaining power of that community in this country. It is a propaganda which got more momentum since British colonization.
SALVATION IN ISLAM AND OTHER RELIGIONSBy: pamin | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 9:41:40 AM Reply | Forward Compare the principle of redemption based on Christianity and Islam.I give the actual QUOTE from the Holy Quran. VERSE 62 CHAPTER 2 OF THE QURAN “ VERILY, THOSE WHO HAVE ATTAINED TO FAITH (IN THIS DIVINE WRIT) AS WELL AS THOSE WHO FOLLOW THE JEWISH FAITH, AND THE CHRISTIANS, AND THE SABIANS_ ALL THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD AND THE LAST DAYAND DO RIGHTEOUS DEEDS_ SHALL HAVE THEIR REWARD WITH THEIR SUSTAINER; AND NO FEAR NEED THEY HAVE, AND NEITHER SHALL THEY GRIEVE.” The same passage recurs in the Quran several times. It lays down a fundamental doctrine of Islam. With a breadth of vision unparalleled in any other religious faith, the idea of salvation is here made conditional upon three elements only: 1. Belief in God 2. Belief in the Day of Judgment and 3. Righteous action in life. Repeat the QURAN NEVER says, only Muslim will have redemption or the final rewards. The emphasis is on RIGHTEOUS ACTION. There are good people in ALL RELIGIONS
Righteous deed, right-O'.By: Kalidas M | Sunday , 1 Feb '09 15:32:29 PM Reply | Forward Thanks for the knowledge, my brother. The real stumble is on the issue of righteous deed, or so I figure. At the same time we must not forget the fact that we follow a particular religion just because we are born in to it ! 99.99% times so at least. Then we are brought up to support it; somewhere along the line is sown the seed of your religion being superior to the others' ! That is but human ! All religions came into being in the first place to reign in the wrongdoers, advantage takers (of the helpless and weak), evil minded people; and to foster a general law and order as perceived at that time. In essence all religions teach one and all to be a decent human being, do your duties as applicable and be good to society in general. All other glorified rituals are mundane in comparison to these fundamental issues. But alas! That very thing goes underground due to various reasons. That's the trgaedy of all religions.
wow......By: rationalist | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 10:13:24 AM Reply | Forward Very well said,my friend.....hope all of us take the real message from the holy texts in the same way!I especially liked your last sentence,'there are GOOD people in ALL RELIGIONS!'May your numbers increase!
Good people in all religionsBy: pamin | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 17:19:14 PM Reply | Forward Thank you brother RATIONALIST" for your encouragement. India mostly shines because of people like you.
psedo secularismBy: sunil | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 8:37:44 AM Reply | Forward conversion in INDIA has to be stopped immediately with strict laws, why the psedeo secular forces are allowed to do all anti national activities?
Religion or politics?By: rationalist | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 7:31:24 AM Reply | Forward There was this story going on in those regions of Africa where the most artocious crimes, like apartheid were commited in the name of Christianity. It was mostly told by the blacks and went like this.....'When the white man first came to Africa,we had all the land and he had the Bible. He then said,'close your eyes, let us pray to the one and only Lord!'When we opened our eyes,we had the Bible and the white man had all the land!' Hahaha If all religions teach the same principles then why convert others to your faith? The attacks on the missionaries trying to convert Hindus to their faith are proof that the Hindus have awakened to the tactics of deception!Don't try to convert and there shall be no violent opposition. There is no bar absolutely on practicing your religion however, whatever it might be.This is guaranteed by the Indian Constitution.
Church should be banned for indulging in Illegal ConversionsBy: Singha | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 6:44:05 AM Reply | Forward church is an evil institution that ushered in darkness in Western world for over 1000 years. India should be careful and work to throw churchist charlatans out.
Christians should respect Hindu CulturalismBy: Gpaul | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 5:26:12 AM Reply | Forward Christians should respect Hindu ethos and culturalism and they should not indulge in anti-hindu propaganda. Missionaries are are not doing any good to humanity by forcing conversion by fraud, lure and inducement. Indian Christians are part of greater Hindu family and they should not fell in trap of Missionaries.
Stop the missionariesBy: Sonu Anand | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 4:32:45 AM Reply | Forward On name of secularism all religions excluding Hindus are trying to convert Hindus and government seems to be part of it. There will be a time when hindus will be a minority in India. Once Hindus are minority then see how Muslims and christians are going to kill Hindus then these guys will not talk abt secularism. I have seen now days there are christians and muslims with Hindu names trying to convert people. Once a christian named Gopal Sharma caught me, became very friendly to me and then told me to change my religion. I asked him are u a Hindu or a christian. He said he was a christian and after conversion even i can continue with my Hindu name. i said f**k off. What the hell is happing to india. People plz dont let this happen, its not good. All christians and Muslims in India were Hindus and c now what they are doing. Is this what is happening behind secularism. This should stop now. Why Hindus need to adopt some culture which has no real values.
India is not SecularBy: Singha | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 6:46:15 AM Reply | Forward secularism in India is designed to cow down Hindus and convert them out of Hinduism. Hindu population proportion in India has been coming down on account of nefarious activities by muslims and churchists. Media tends to blame Hinduism rather than address the real cause which is intellectual and physical terrorism and illegal conversions by churchists and muslims.
RAM RAJ IDEABy: pamin | Wednesday , 17 Sep '08 17:30:25 PM Reply | Forward As a Muslim I assert that amend the constitution of India to give effect to the idea that India will be a Hindu State as Iran is a Muslim State, but with internationally recognised qualifications, that is, the UNO's basic human rights articles will be enshirned and the religious minorities will have absolute freedom to propagate( without corruption)and practice their religion and the Ram Raj will not interfere in their God given Shari'a laws, the minorities are the full fledged citizens of India with as the case for instance in the UK where Protestant Christianity is still considered as the recognised State Religion, but non-protestant Christians have equal rights. It is an idea worth trying. Go for a national referendum and let the BJP fight the future elections based on this mandate and programme.
Communal riots in Mangalore-regBy: praveenchandra shetty | Tuesday , 16 Sep '08 23:01:04 PM Reply | Forward What led to communal riots in Mangalore this time?-Mangalore city had come to normalcy after the communal riots between the Hindus and Muslims that broke last year, which was brought under control after imposing Curfew for 3 days succession to 3 days section 144 that did not yield any result. Now, it is the turn of communal riot between Hindus and Christians, widely known as Catholics, which was never expected in India for the only reason that the services rendered by the self-less volunteers like Catholic Educational
