This plea is inspired by my recent reading of a brilliant book written by Professor Jonathan Sacks entitled, 'The Dignity of Difference – How to Avoid the Clash of Civilisations'. Professor Jonathan Sacks is the Chief Rabbi of Great Britain and the Commonwealth. The Bajrang Dal people may not have heard his name but he is very well known in and outside the Jewish community as a philosopher and theologian as well as a writer and broadcaster. A former Ruth Lecturer, Professor Sacks also continues to pursue a distinguished academic career. 'The Dignity of Difference' is a plea - the most forceful that anyone could make – for tolerance in an age of fundamentalism and extremism. He sees in the rising crescendo of regional and ethnic tensions, bigotry and civilisational clashes and the use of religious justification for acts of terror and intimidation, a clear and present danger to humanity. "For too long, he says, the pages of history have been stained by bloodshed in the name of race and God. Allied to weapons of mass destruction, extremist racial and religious attitudes threaten the very future of life on earth." “In our interconnected world,” he says, “we must learn to feel enlarged, not threatened by difference. Even Hindus don't mind, if it is a genuine change of heart after a long study and comparison without any material inducements. But, what has provoked Hindus is the hideous practice by Christian missionaries in converting the vulnerable, uneducated and poor communities. You get a bowl of rice for your soul!

We are hindus, but we have no problems, children learn about faith and love and respect from home more than schools. So if your home has love and respect and the family has time to teach what is religion, no matter what comes in the way, they will still have faith in that religion, nothing will ever convert them... that is strong faith. Every other week tamil vernacular magazines comes out with escapades of pastors and fathers. Christianity's failure is all apparent - europe has rejected it, only americas (south and north) are still cringing to it. As time passes they too will realize its meaninglesness and may be then convert themselves to muslims. Negroes are already doing that in US. Hinduism is not in race with anybody and doesnt believes in more the merrier stuff as believed by middle east nonsense faiths.
