We can’t say what India must do: Israel

New Delhi: As the air strikes against Hamas in Gaza entered its second week, Israel’s Ambassador to India Mark Sofer has made it clear that his country would continue the military operations till it had deprived the Hamas of its capability to launch rocket attacks into Israeli areas. “One thing is certain  ....Read more

Israel has right to existBy: sumeet | Monday , 5 Jan '09 12:50:37 PM Reply | Forward Israel has the right to defend a "hate" regime and philosophy of the Hamas. Palestinians are not interested in acquiring land or peace, they have a hate ideology against Israel based on deep religious beliefs. History has revealed that the Israelites all over the world have been a blessing to others. Just check on the no. of nobel peace prize awards won by Jews. Jews have contributed to science, economy, military, space, technology, agriculture etc being few. Their lineage needs to be preserved but sadly they have faced hostility right from ages. Its only God who is their ultimate help and so they trust. They have continuously been targeted by regimes based on jealousy and hatred with likes of hitler and hamas and now Iran. Jews were scattered across the world but now they are striving to preserve their culture, tradition and faith. Don't they have this much right? When we preserve endangered species and animals, why cant we stand by a nation who's crying out for its right to exist.
We are not like youBy: Arshad | Monday , 5 Jan '09 12:41:55 PM Reply | Forward I pity the IQ of people writing comments here.Israel doing it in self defence aaah.Tell me what will you do when somebody occupies your house and out of 4 rooms take away 3 rooms and you are a hostage. You are totally at there mercy.....Gaza is a open prison surrounded by Israel from all sides. What do you expect palestinian people to do in that case. Its simple.Israel wants to be-friend India, well it wants another strong power like India (which will be super power in near future) to support its illegal occupation . So that Israel can continue it atrocities and massacre of innocent for more time to come....In return Israel will teach India how to alienate and starve 200 million Muslims within India .It will teach India how to kill its own people.Coming to similar situation. Well one needs to put following questions to the Israel1) Do you have any nuclear neighbor ?2) You occupy a nation,we do not3) We do not kill innocent children in our fight.4)We have friends all over unlike u
we are not like youBy: RS | Monday , 5 Jan '09 16:26:36 PM Reply | Forward Arshad you really need to read history and that too an non arab version. the UN sponsered vote was won by 33 to 13 with 10 absentees in favour of creation of two separate states of palestine and Isreal. Great Britain decided to in ignore it as it had overall control of the region in favour of Arabs. Finaly when Jews did manage to force the issue League of arab nations decided to wage war and deny the Isreal right to exist and they still do despite UN manadate. Arab army headed by various states then lost the war because of sheer arrogance, poor preparation and lack of any coherent policy. agendas of various participating nations did not help at all. In other words interest of palestinians ( which was to have dialogue with Isreal and have amicable solutions)was flushed down the drain. plalestinians are victims of sheer arab arrogance, lack of any coherent policy or ideology( apart from being muslims) and their own complete lack of understanding of geopolitical siuation at the time. As far as India and pakistan is concerned once Pakistan was created Indian leaders had the wisdom of accepting the reality and move on. Therefore two situations have no parallals. However in todays context if muslims do dare to raise the issue of division of country rest of the countrymen will not be very accepting. And please do not harp about Indian muslims not wanting separate land again because there are plenty of them and they make such noises every day.
Occupation of landBy: Jasphal Singh | Monday , 5 Jan '09 15:38:40 PM Reply | Forward History tells that Jews are originally from Saudi Arabia. Now pl. tell us who is the occupier?
Bravo IsraelBy: shyam kishore | Monday , 5 Jan '09 12:02:49 PM Reply | Forward Israel is a country with a strong will and focussed leadership . They also enjoy an unconditional support from the US .They have striking capacity which India has still not achieved. we cannot be an Israel as we dont have any of these . Lets admire Israel for building up a nation from sand and have the courage to stand for what they believe .
We can’t say what India must do: IsraelBy: Vox Indica | Monday , 5 Jan '09 11:36:18 AM Reply | Forward Israel has done only what it should in self defence. It is tragic that India can act take similar action because it has to contend with vote bank politics. With friends like ARAntulay, Lalu Yadav, Mulayam Singh, Ram Vilas Paswan and secular intelligentsia, she does not require enemies.
Bravo Israel!By: A Gokak | Monday , 5 Jan '09 10:41:26 AM Reply | Forward Yes, friends told me of watching on TV a family apartment being hit and devastated by a rocket in the middle of Haifa a year ago! Israel has been very patient. It is a nation that follows the canons of civilisation unlike its neighbours! Time to demand collectively that nations follow international canons of civilisation, or take collective action to bomb them back into the stone age from whence they came! Enough is Enough!!! India or Israel, we stand together as ancient civilisations that observe humane behaviours inside out. But we also need to treat our soldiers and policemen with due respect and honour, and not take our civil liberties for granted.
Isrel attackBy: S.Ramamurthi | Monday , 5 Jan '09 9:37:08 AM Reply | Forward Isrel's action against the thugs "hamas" is totally justified as it is only a retaliation.Isrel is a very brave nation with leaders taking no chance against the treacherous neighbours. The congress has no business to decry Isrel attack, while they kept mum over Hamas rocket attack on Isrel's civilian population. Let not congress export vote bank politics in Isrel affair too.
israel attackBy: ram | Sunday , 11 Jan '09 15:39:44 PM Reply | Forward INC has no bussiness to decry Israel retaliation in Gaza against Hamas rocket attack on Israel.Indian PM is more preoccupied and worried about Muslims and Islamic reaction rather than India and its people.Israel is more worried and is preoccupied with the safety of its country and people. What Isreal is doing is for its country and its people's safty,so what is wrong? India is unable to do so because of its appeasement policies? Why decry Israel action? It needs a brave heart to do what Israel is doing not just big mouth issuing "brave warnings" as Indian do. India needs a roaring lion and not a squeaking rat.Non violance is tool of cowards who use it to hide their cowardice.Wake up India,Wake up.
Long Live Israel By: Abdullah | Monday , 5 Jan '09 10:29:46 AM Reply | Forward Long Live Israel. Beat the Hamas into submission. It is disgusting to see the behaviour of the world media in their biased coverage of the Gaza attack. Israel is living next to an entity that has sworn for the destruction of Israel. Is Israel supposed to sit back lightly and allow them to do so. And the idea of proportionality of response. Well, Hamas targeted a school using rockets. Should this mean that Israel should target 'Palestinian' schools? As far as I am concerned the Israelis have been more than kind to the Hamas and Palestininans. They have provided them security, food and water. Despite all this they remain ungrateful. It is time Israel sends the Gaza and West Bank residents into exile to live alongisde their brethren in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, e.t.c.
Iserel attackBy: S.Ramamurthi | Monday , 5 Jan '09 9:28:25 AM Reply | Forward Isrelies are doing what a selfrespecting and brave nation should do against the islamic fundamentalists. Whil the congress cry foul when ever Isrel retaliates it does not do any thing when Hamas fire rockets iln to civilian areas. Let not the v ote bank politics be exported to Isrel.
TerrorBy: Peter | Monday , 5 Jan '09 8:03:53 AM Reply | Forward India must take a lesson from Israel and destroy all terror camps where ever they are existed. You can not solve every thing by diplomacy.
israel By: ak | Monday , 5 Jan '09 6:43:08 AM Reply | Forward The difference in two countries are the political bosses. One country has the leaders who are not making fool of their citizens
India need another Indra GandhiBy: Paramjit Bahia | Monday , 5 Jan '09 6:17:50 AM Reply | Forward Israeli Ambassador Sofer is absolutely right that it is up to the Indians how to deal with their neighbouring nations (Pakistan and Bangladesh) which provide shelter to terrorists. But sadly unlike Israel Indian political class suffers from slave mentality, and need permission from Washington and London before taking any meaningful action. Both USA and the UK have double standards, one for dealing with those who create problems for them and completely opposite when India gets attacked by their puppets. High time Indians started protecting their own interests like they used to under Indra Gandhi. Her kind of leadership is badly required.
