We should be proud of Deoband, BJP tells Cong

Faizabad: The BJP on Saturday sought to turn the tables on Congress over the administrative reforms committee report which, according to the saffron party, ‘blacklisted’ Darul Uloom Deoband and demanded an apology from the grand old party in this regard. BJP national general secretary Vinay Katiyar said   ....Read more

Fallability of moral judgementBy: romesh.sharma | Sunday , 4 Jan '09 14:45:13 PM Reply | Forward As always Indian politicians have no sense of diplomatic language and speak of the things in exaggerated manner which bring shame and disgust to the orgs/institution oand the Party. Why the India has to be proud of Deoband?Islamic orgs have full freedom in India and they can have that solong they don't indulge into anti-antion and anti-Hindu(majority) activities.Has Katyiar fears that if Deoband is banned the next it can be ShivSena or RSS?If the ruling Party, though treacherously involved in vote-bank politics, has substantial evidence against Deoband there has to be no hitch to Ban this or other org/party.Anyone or group seen jeopardizing Nation's security and interests has to be banned. Its absolutely light-headedness and act of low intelect to say "We should be proud of Deoband".
DeobandBy: Aravind | Sunday , 4 Jan '09 13:25:12 PM Reply | Forward Congress need to come out straight and clean. If it really think Deoband is to be bannded, they should take action immediatley, rather than waiting for the next election. We have so many reports and recommendations which are allon the shelves! Afzal guru is still waiting while we still probe Mumbai carnage. What shame of inefficiency. The government of India should know that it is an insult to Indians at this age of Information Technology where India claims to be on top, to let loose on such important issues. Everything is done to increase efficiency and speedy justice is very much a part of it.
Religious outfitsBy: J.M.Manchanda | Sunday , 4 Jan '09 9:20:02 AM Reply | Forward The next thing BJP would do is to defend SIMI as well. There is no end to petty party politics and so long there are such people amongs us . we don't even need terrorists to destroy us. Whether a particualr seminary should be baned or not is a decision which should be taken on merits. However BJP only wishes to exploit it politically. The argument that all religiousity-driven schools should be banned in a secular set up is valid. Unfortunately, it will be BJP itslef which would jump to protest when it comes to curbing so-called sadhvis and saints spreading hatred in the name of promoting Hinduism.
Secular does not mean anti-religiousBy: Malkesh Adesra | Monday , 5 Jan '09 10:44:33 AM Reply | Forward Mr J.M. Manchanda,as far as the idea of secularism goes, it does not mean for a country to be void of religion-driven schools. Secularism has tolerance at its base. It's not about neutralizing all the religious sentiments of public. It's a shame to even write such comments. That can very well be termed as a nazist thought. Besides,I find your comment as an oxymoron in itself. You are ridiculing BJP for protesting against the reco of a ban on deoband. The last statement says that UNFORTUNATELY, BJP will jump to protest... for hindu saints. Ofcourse it will. The whole story directly leads to that thing. IT is there utmost political weapon. The whole state of politics in our country unfortunate.
obamaBy: Vito | Sunday , 4 Jan '09 6:00:23 AM Reply | Forward Don't worry, with obama as president, terrorism will stop. Yeah right. Expect more terrorism with him as president.
Twisted heading, twisted reporting. Read full statement, and shame on the "journalist" who wrote it.By: U N S Ecular | Sunday , 4 Jan '09 2:46:00 AM Reply | Forward The "journalists" who twist the words and headings of the report like this one should be counted on par with terrorists, since they are their aiders and abetters, and shot like them. The complete statement says that if the report by Moily that Deoband has terrorist contacts is correct, ... the Centre is left with only two options:- if the report is correct it must take action or ban the institution and if wrong, Congress should immediately seek apologies from the Muslims. Can IE editor make sure that this journo does not have a career anymore?
BJP is rightBy: Vikas | Sunday , 4 Jan '09 1:51:06 AM Reply | Forward Deoband is a nationalist organisationand not just a religious one. it did the right thing by passing Fatwa agaisnt terorism. BJP is 100% right in supporting Deoband. Can people who are opposing BJP on this give one reason as to why Deoband should be banned? Please present some hard facts rather than rhetorics..
Bending over backwards for Muslim votesBy: Ajay | Sunday , 4 Jan '09 0:57:57 AM Reply | Forward The Deobandi teaches that "Infidels should be killed etc."I say BAN them.
Shame on PTIBy: Mahesh | Saturday , 3 Jan '09 23:48:01 PM Reply | Forward i cant but feel ashamed at how much plagiarism goes on in Indian from the US media in particular. The grand old party is the name of the republican party. I would expect more originality from the PTI. Shame on you editors for not being original.
The new face of Indian muslims.By: adnan fukar | Saturday , 3 Jan '09 23:29:28 PM Reply | Forward this congess government wins the election with the help of terrorists
Anti Indians PolietyBy: Santosh Palekar | Saturday , 3 Jan '09 22:31:30 PM Reply | Forward for those who thinks BJP is nationalistic, here is the true face of BJP. An disclosed evil (congress) is less dangerous than undisclosed enemy (BJP). But the biggest unfortunate thing is that we have to choose one out of them. I am ashamed with our polity. Jai hind
