When they come again

It will happen again. And soon. Probably in another Indian city. The objectives of the terrorists are clear. One, weaken India’s economy which has been robust in the recent past, giving hope that poverty can and will be eliminated in our lifetimes. Two, weaken India’s links with the external wo  ....Read more

They will come againBy: Kishan | Monday , 1 Dec '08 15:43:41 PM Reply | Forward Wah! Jaitirath da Jawaab Nahin ! This is one sane article we have read after the terror attack. He is right. It will happen again. And the script will be repeated. Only the actors may be different. And isn't the "Matsya Nyaya" already existing in India?
Solid stance against Pak.By: DEV | Monday , 1 Dec '08 11:12:21 AM Reply | Forward India should retaliate with full strength against Pakistan, just like US did in Irak. Within 3-4 days the Mumbay Mascre becomes pallatable dish for the domestic as well as International politics. We should not allow this any more.
RE: Solid stance against PakBy: Sam | Tuesday , 2 Dec '08 0:48:09 AM Reply | Forward Dude, get your facts straight first. US attack of Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. I am a mumbaiyite and I understand the anger but there has to be some sense and thought to it.
Mumbai TerrorBy: Gopi Chari | Monday , 1 Dec '08 10:05:21 AM Reply | Forward The overall reaction to the attack is less than perfect and the citizens were extraordinarily courageous. The question remains, what is the Government going to do? When will India ever give a proper reply to the terrorists? The only fitting reply would be to destroy the terrorist cells whereever they may be If they happen to be in Pakistan India must take appropriate action preferbly with the understanding of US and UK. These other democracies cannot expect India not to take any action. India must act first and then discuss the matter with others.
Jaithirth Rao's columnBy: Subbu Iyer | Monday , 1 Dec '08 10:05:03 AM Reply | Forward Great column, sir! As I read on, I kept muttering, "Precisely!". It was ridiculous to see the State talking in conflicting tones. All seemed to forget that the visual medium is a source of real-time feedback for the terrorists. Also, the next time this happens, could the TV channels and their clownish anchors keep it down a few notches? For God's sake, innocent men, women and children were being tortured and butchered inside when some bloody punks in the media were admiring their own camera angles. I thought I was going to see a commercial break followed by "this portion of the terrorist attack "sponsored" by...". Pathetic! Get a grip people of the visual media, a terrorist attack is not like a telecast of a twenty twenty cricket match, for F's sake!
When they come againBy: mohd | Monday , 1 Dec '08 10:35:43 AM Reply | Forward They can hit at any site they choose. They have power provided by people who want destruction. That power as we saw can not be matched by any of our state forces except special forces. That needs to change. Protection needs to get decentralized. A central government sitting in Delhi can not protect all citizens. Private houses such as Tatas and others need to come up with security forces who have matching power and can be hired. This can be good business proposition where we have reliable security forces who can be hired by private businesses. Imagine if Taj and CST had such a commando force right at the site. They would have dealt the terrorists right away. We wouldn't have to have waited hours to get NSG forces from Delhi.India has changed. We have money now and we have come a long way. We need to adapt to evolving security needs. Security needs to go private and become strong to thwart terrorism.
Will they come again!!By: Abu Naved | Monday , 1 Dec '08 9:03:04 AM Reply | Forward Yes, it can happen again!! Why? Because we allow people like Raj Thackeray to make mockery of rule of law, because we allow politicians to polarise the community, because we do not protest when perpetrators of Mumbai riots go scot free, because for the last 60 years we have been celebrating our independence, but our parliamentarians did not pass a single law to curb communal violence!!It is a perfect set up for outsiders to take advantage of the situation. Any one who is bent upon inflicting injury on us will find it very easy to do so. So my humble request is to the people of India not to get swayed by the rhetorics of the politicians who are hell bent on dividing our great nation on basis of religion, caste, and regionalism.
