Where are we going?By: Jay | Monday , 13 Oct '08 22:04:01 PM Reply | Forward Majority of Indian political parties and many so-called “intellectuals” (with degrees but without any education) prefer to blame Hindu fundamentalist organizations with slightest provocation but they always keep mum or tactically support Christian or Muslim activities of same degree or even for more dangerous religious fundamentalism. Indian Govt and most of the political parties fail to understand that “secularism” does not mean freedom to do (in public) whatever one feels like according to its own religious faith. Secularism means strict responsibility to implement (by Govt) and follow (by citizens) a common set of rules in public, irrespective of religion. Uniform civil code and unbiased law implementation is the very basic to have a real secular democracy and which is far too much to demand from our present political system. Unless it’s implemented, no power in the earth can stop religious violence in India. In reality religion and caste based violence will increase.
