New Delhi, October 3:: Tatas on Friday pulled out of West Bengal for its Rs 1 lakh car Nano project, blaming it on continuing agitation by the Opposition parties, spearheaded by Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee. with regret we are moving out of bengalBy: baba kumar | Saturday , 4 Oct '08 0:21:02 AM Reply | Forward For Tatas once bitten twice shy, tatas will not come to bengal anymore.Mamata banerji who practises destructive politics should be solely responsible for tatas exit.It is a balack day for Bengal. When she dies please bury her somehere in the Singur land.As i see bengal will be a land of hawkers and paupers.NO MULTINATIONAL WILL COME TO BENGAL WITH THIS ATTITUDE OF THE BENGALIS.If your own industralists are chased away like this how do you expect foreign industry to be set up in bengal. The bengalis have to change their mindset to move foward..It has been made worse by the states communist rule. When you think you are too smart then you have to pay the price for it.Destructive politics should give way to cooperativ politics which the bengali politicians should adopt.Anyway Tata must have given security of utmost importance, which i dont blame them with so many being employed there.
too lateBy: praveer kumar shukla | Friday , 3 Oct '08 22:41:53 PM Reply | Forward Finally after a long struggle farmers were able to ensure that industrialisation do not happen at cost of agriculture. Fertile land has never been in abundant. It is really disgusting to see that fertile land is used for industries and the land not fit for agriculture remain useless. But blaming Mamata Banerjee for same is not justified. Mamta was active in nandigram and she got in singur lately. But the project is facing problems since beginning. If I am not wrong then same mr. Ratan Tata has stated on national media some time back that COMPETITORS ARE CREATING PROBLEMS AT SINGUR AND HE IS HAVING PROOFS FOR SAME.Projects like NANO are quite cost sensitive and I was surprised to know that TATAs are going for not only a green field project but also at a very new location having no infrastructure for industry. If Mamta Banerjee was not involved then also they could not have run the plant successfully.TATAs are having surplus infrastructuaral support at few places, they should utilse same
Sad dayBy: Vidya | Friday , 3 Oct '08 22:33:20 PM Reply | Forward A sad day indeed when bullies win! But the Left itself has played spoilsport on so may occasions that they cannot complain now. The people of WB have no well wishers either in the Government or in the opposition.
Tatas -hero or villains?By: KSC Nair | Friday , 3 Oct '08 22:23:17 PM Reply | Forward Ask Atchutanandan, Kerala CM. For him Tata's are only unscrupulous land-grabbers. Politburo should now find the Highest Common Factor for industry friendly comrades of all varieties.
WELL DONE TATABy: N.J GEORGE | Friday , 3 Oct '08 22:18:46 PM Reply | Forward IT IS A VERY WELL TIMED AND PROPER DECISION CONSIDERING ALL ASPECTS.IT IS TIME THAT OUR OSTERICH LIKE POLITICIANS DO SOME INTROSPECTION. ONCE AGAIN CONGRATS RATTAN.

nano car projectBy: himanshu saroha | Friday , 3 Oct '08 20:35:48 PM Reply | Forward why is media making out such big issue of this nano car and another not so holy industrialist ratan tata, tata first took this fertile land through corrupt means on cheaper rates using a state machinery, many people died protestin the acquisition of their land still this tata of yours was silent and did not try to move out.as for his cars they are a pathetic lot and only selling because of diesel engines and cheaper price of spare parts.so many people got bereaved by his project and how many families will get effected upon meeting accidents while driving this safety wise unproven small mobile tin box god only knows.and this tata will only make money and make banks poorer by this cursed project
Nono out. Let's discuss next target.By: venky kambhampaty | Friday , 3 Oct '08 20:14:07 PM Reply | Forward Congratulations Comrades. Now go to China and collect your gift bag and move on to shutdown another project. You should be very proud of your accomplishment.
Nano ot of W.BengalBy: Jay Ravi | Friday , 3 Oct '08 19:56:39 PM Reply | Forward During the last four decades, the Left-overs have reduced the most industrialized state to being the armpit of India and now Mamata is playing a one-upmanship game. The tragedy is that the Left ideology has been drilled into several generations with devastating effect. The vast majority of Bengalis start their day, careers with a free booting and a cholbe-na attitude. With the extent of brain-washing that has gone in, this state is NOT going anywhere till there is a sea change in attitudes. That is not likely to happen -- with the Bangladeshi infiltrators voting for the CPIM a ground reality, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Also, there is a clear and definite danger that much of the Eastern/NE will be lost to China/Bangladesh with the active connivance of the Left, during our lifetime. Singur is but one manifestation of the cancerous politics in West Bengal. The dangers need to be articulated to the Bengalis.
Self Serving MamtaBy: Sunil Maingi | Friday , 3 Oct '08 19:49:02 PM Reply | Forward For her own narrow political ends, Mamta Bannerjee has torpedoed and very successfully sunk the Nano project in Bengal. She has for now, scared away any kind of industrial investment in the state. This way she has blocked creation of several thousand new jobs, not only in this project, but in several other projects, which could have come up in the state. It seems that politicians like her are only interested in power and not in the prosperity of the people.
