New Delhi, September 26:: Who is the wife of actor-turned-MP Dharmendra and husband of 'Dreamgirl' Hema Malini, a Rajya Sabha MP herself? An RTI applicant, who wants to know if the two MPs are married to each other, has now approached the Central Information Commission on the issue, which is likely to be heard next week  ....Read more

Dharam By: P L Selva Mani | Wednesday , 18 Mar '09 22:03:29 PM Reply | Forward There are more important matters that the RTI Authorities should deal with. So I think the the CIC and the RTI should reject this frivilous query with the contempt that it deserves. When rapists, murderers and embezzlers can stand for and be elected to our Parliment , bigamy is far less a crime to merit so much attention

who is who ?By: ks rajan | Wednesday , 18 Mar '09 10:28:37 AM Reply | Forward What is bigamy? In the society, influential people are not to go by the laws in practice. They can do any thing they want. This is an example and law has not taken its course.

Hindu Marriage LawBy: Jatu | Friday , 26 Sep '08 22:12:43 PM Reply | Forward There must be a law that even Hindus may also marry more than one wife provided his first wife or wives are agreed
RTI and Hema-DharmendraBy: U.K.Sharma | Friday , 26 Sep '08 19:36:42 PM Reply | Forward What hogwash does Mr. Khalil talk. The law is the law; it is ilegal to be bigamous. Celebrity status and being an MP should impose greater obligations on the so-called great couple. They should lead by example, and not mislead the public. Does Mr. Khalil mean to say that if a man is rich enough to support 'x' number of wives he can marry 'x' number of women? He seems to belong to some old bygone era, when men prided themselves on the number of cattle, horses, servants and wives!!! Grow up Mr. Khalil, nowadays, women have a say too. Your poor women would surely hate to marry someone with an existing wife just because he can feed them. Do not delude yourself.

DharmendraBy: Sunil | Friday , 26 Sep '08 19:21:28 PM Reply | Forward Many young Muslim girls from my city are married off to old Sheikhs from the Gulf. None of the Donkeys ask any questions, but they always have time to trouble accomplished people. Dharmendra, Parkash Deol
RTI wasted!!By: Khalil | Friday , 26 Sep '08 17:34:27 PM Reply | Forward How Petty will the Congress stoop now to malign a respected and accomplished couple!!!Will this congress a*s wipes ask this same question to my "minority" population how many unaccounted wives and families they have..We live in a very funny country- a Man who is in a position to handle his 2 wives with dignity and respect and give them a good family life is being questioned while many poor young women from my Muslim community are pushed into marrying old men with multiple wives and the whole country remains silent to this exploitation in the name of secularism!!A complete mockery of RTI act and waste of valuable time for the judiciary..
I agree....By: Sid | Friday , 26 Sep '08 19:28:51 PM Reply | Forward I agree with your point. The politicians only know how to get aligned with vote banks. They dont really care for benefit of the minorities or in fact any one, except themselves.
How does it matterBy: R.Ramachandran | Friday , 26 Sep '08 18:16:13 PM Reply | Forward Rajya Sabha Secretariat is right in saying that what is required to be provided is the information available with them and not about the correctness or otherwise. Again where is the need for any reconciliation of the information. Even if Dharmendra is having two wives, under Hindu Marriage Act, it is for one of the spouses to make a complaint to make it an offence. No one else has any role to play. To stretch the argument further, when Ms. Hemamalini indicated Mr. Dharmendra Deol as her spouse, one cannot jump to the conclusion that it is the same Dharmendra Deol who is the Bikaner M.P. that she was referring to! For instance when Mira Bai claimed Lord Krishna to be her husband, no where Lord Krishna acknowledged Mira Bai to be his wife! So there is no need for any reconciliation.
