Rahul's remarkBy: Geetika | Thursday , 23 Oct '08 3:20:43 AM Reply | Forward Those who are calling "Rahul" an idiot etc, should introspect about their intellect ,knowledge, and ability to comprehend. He is right when he talked about the gap between Foreign Universites and Indian Univerities. So called touted IIT stands at 100th place by international standard. By the way, those who are callling him an idiot, given a chance, will not hesitate to forge relation with this most elligible bacholor. Peek into your family and his family's standard!
Rahul's EducationBy: Carmela | Thursday , 23 Oct '08 1:43:22 AM Reply | Forward I am surprised to see this joker commenting on the education system of India. He failed in India miserably and went abroad for education. What degree did he get nobody knows. I read in Express about his mental (dis) abilities.
RG is absolutely wrongBy: Bhalu | Wednesday , 22 Oct '08 23:40:22 PM Reply | Forward Mr. Rahul Gandhi need to wake up and realize the edcational system in USA is not good. Examples :- (i) The number of working days in USA is barely 180 days a year (ii) Chemistry, Biology, Physic are poorly taught to US students. You need to remember Mr. Gandhi that US is known for the brain-drain policy (iii) The value and moral is one of the worse issues in US school. Most of the scientists, doctors, professors in USA are immigrants from all over the world.
You aren't even a stephanian Mr. Gandhi!By: Anne | Wednesday , 22 Oct '08 21:38:18 PM Reply | Forward i'd really like to know how Rahul Gandhi got the ide idea that Stephen's discouraged questioning... i wonder how many classes he actually attended in his 3 month stint at College... There are thousands of staphanians who can tell u how to ask questions in college Mr. Gandhi... actually being IN the college is one huge requirement for it...
Mr.Gandhi's comments on StephensBy: Shiv Dhawan | Friday , 24 Oct '08 13:11:55 PM Reply | Forward Everyone has freedom of speech. So does rahul. But what he says is untrue.Stephens is probably the only institution that supports freedom of expression and right to question-that was true 25 years ago and even today. I and indeed generations of students from 1881 onwards have never come across a single instance of college muzzling us.It is the creme de la creme of educational institutions and Mr Gandhi ought to feel priveledged to be an alumni even if he did not really graduate from there. And being a distinguished alumni, he ought not bash his alma mater in public fora that have nothing to do with the institution.
Rahul has a GOOD HEART.By: shami@gmail.com | Wednesday , 22 Oct '08 21:14:22 PM Reply | Forward Rahul may not be a genious.., but he has a good heart , this is the quality which most of our politician not have. We need such leader who can understand the feeling of our. Go ahead Rahul..
RG is absolutely rightBy: d.chatterjee | Wednesday , 22 Oct '08 20:22:40 PM Reply | Forward Well I do not know about the real reason behind RG's admssion to St. Stephens and his performance in educational Institutes. But being not very brilliant in studies does not and should not take the right to speak truth from anyone. As a mother of school going son, I whole heartedlly agree that asking questions are not very encouraged at schools.. Teachers even get angry when asked to reapeat any teaching. Not every student is brilliant and many are not, but even a mere request to repeat a solution, say for maths brings about volley of abuse. Exceptions are there but few. Sadly our education system nurtures only 'muck up and vomit' principle. Marks are the most important factors, understanding is not.
Rahul By: Abhishek Singh | Thursday , 23 Oct '08 0:47:41 AM Reply | Forward Rahul should put one thing in his mind....u r in India......not in some developed

Do not buy his comments -its all about buisinessBy: Antina | Wednesday , 22 Oct '08 19:58:54 PM Reply | Forward I am presently doing my PhD in Physics at Netherlands. I have done my masters and B.S from Calcutta university, India and usually went to schools and colleges which are not so reputed. But when I compare my knowledge and level of understanding with students here I do not really find a difference. Even in some cases my foundations are stronger than many of them. I am now involved in the education system here and I must add that the standard of education in India in general is good and comparable to International standards. Adding some flat screen computers and some sophisticated instruments does not necessarily mean good standard of education. I guess Rahul Gandhi wants to give opportunity to the foreign universities to do business in India - thats the reason he is suddenly worried about the education system. Please do not buy his theories.
I AGREE WITH RAHUL GANDHIBy: Ajay | Wednesday , 22 Oct '08 23:15:34 PM Reply | Forward RG's point that the quota for OBC's is hard on some is because that there aren't enough number of quality educational institutions in the country, this is such a blatant truth. RG doesn't want to maintain the status quo and I completely agree with him that Indian students of every caste and economic background be given the opportunity of world class teaching and resources. The PhD's offered in many colleges and universities in India are not on par with those from the West and this is a bare fact as can be seen from the list of top 500 Universities of the World (compiled by the The Times, UK every year)- Indian Universities can be barely counted on the list. It goes to show that the quality of education at levels below PhD's is indeed poor. There's great need and imminently urgent to set up quality training institutes and draw up standards of the highest level for teachers of all subjects from primary schools to secondary to colleges and universities for the betterment of every Indian irrespective of caste. Let's break the status quo. Let India move into modernity please. Thank you.
I too went to Stanford!By: Chandran Nair | Wednesday , 22 Oct '08 19:38:40 PM Reply | Forward Obviously our PM in waiting is not satisfied with the set up in Harward, too. A Keralite who was doing his graduation there during the same period as Barack Obama, says that Rahul Gandhi too had enrolled there, to disappear for after a few weeks. Thus, if he has been in institutions in UK and USA, I had been in Prineton, Columbia, Stanford, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon... etc. as I have attended some graduations of some smart and brilliant young relations of mine. I even went on conducted tours of some prominent ones!
Foreign Unievrsities, QUota and Rahul Gandhi's musingsBy: rajeev | Wednesday , 22 Oct '08 19:34:10 PM Reply | Forward Ahan he got admission into St STephen's on sports quota, i think it was shooting quota. I am not suer if he did anything worthwhile in shooting later on. And then he goes abroad and does not complete his education and he is talking about the education system in India. There are lots of substandard universities abroad. Good education is not just about being able to ask questions. And such things as askign questions have to be inculcated from schools not at Universities. i am sure there could other better people to talk about education than him. But then that is how it is in India.
