Hyperbole on the ATS deathsBy: Manish | Tuesday , 9 Dec '08 13:47:03 PM Reply | Forward With all due respect to those dead and their familes but i have to totally agree with dinesh, terrorist had attacked mumbai the city was burning and these 3 officers were rushing to see a injured colleague ( or were they running away ? ) unfortunately this act took their life they might have been alive if they had taken some leadership and fought the terrorists. My full sympathies to the other police constables in the jeep im sure they did not have any say in this issue.

Simple human beigns at heart but always there to help when the need arised - whether from colleagues or the Nation.. There are only a handful of peple in this world who put others before self...... These three are classic examples of selfless love and devotion to others and the country.. In their tragic deaths we have lost the brightest Officers whose void will remain eternally...... It wiil be difficult to fill up this void.Heartfelt gratitude to the families of these brave Officers and a promise that their deaths will not go in vain.

Before this article I did not realize no one talking about their sacrifice. We all are talking about NSG etc. NSG need to mentioned but same are these three, these were the first to go on spot and with very less protection.Once again thanks for report and my gratitude to family members of these 3 officers. The issue of hindu terrorism needs to be investigated in detail and who initiated this racket. This reminds me of the fake ISRO spy case that installed AK Anthony as the CM of Kerala. We should conduct narco test on all those who are involved in this fake project including Sonia Gandhi, as this could be an international conspiracy by the christian lobby and OPUS DEI. Only natural born citizens should be allowed to hold high offices and that too for the previous five generations their parents should have been natural born citizens. Otherwise like in Sikkim foreign plants will be placed in ruling families and this is what Sonia is. Our next PM could be an Egyptian belly dancer if we don’t enact laws to prevent this type of foreign occupation. Sonia should be jailed if a conspiracy is proven.

He and his armed escort were on there way to see a hospitalized colleague and the terrorists attacked his vehicle -killing him and his guards before they could respond. If the armed team of his were thus trained - could not even defend themselves. Can we expect them to to protect anybody else. Please cut the crap. If this reporting is correct - it speaks volumes of ATS competency. The end result is for all of us to see. I suggest we stop the hyperbole and face reality.

But please do remember, this specific officer responded to the call of duty and sense of duty towards the citizens, in the process being killed by terrorist far better armed and ready to take on anybody. He was wearing faulty bullet-proof jacket and travelling in a standard police vehicle (not the high-tech bullet/mine proofs that our politicians travel in).He was a investigative police officer (ex-RAW, ex-crime branch and ATS) not a special operations commando. If you think about it through your own conscience and use critical reasoning, you will realize Mr. Karkare is a true hero at the hour of calling.Don't be whimsical in an online blog-post, fight for our citizens rights and truth in the open if you care so much.

He worked in the same organization at the start of his career, New India Assurance, where my father worked. I resisted the tempation to work there in the same time frame from 1978 onwards. The difference is, I moved to the west and pursued a career as a CPA. It just amazes me that this officer perhaps must have known he was donning a faulty bullet-proof jacket. If he still went ahead to be at the site, it is not as much call of duty alone. Sometimes, discretion is the better part of valour. Sadly, he just had no hint as to the scale of attack. It had no precedent. It amazes me further, despite all this heartbreak, Rakesh Maria is quoted elsewhere about the lone captured terrorist wanting to write to his parents, wanting to see movies, wanting to go home to Pakistan! Truly, India is a soft state where human life and dignity are always at a discount and where professionalism takes a different meaning. I am sorry to be watching all this on global media from this far.

Poor bullet proof vest,fragile vehicle notwithstanding - the top man in ATS did not quite appreciate the situation. We are talking about competency here. In half an hour the ATS went leaderless. This is appaling. Does not speak high of the competency of the organisation.No one is out to dispute their sense of duty. It is competency that is sadly in question. Forget ATS, the govt. has finally decided enough is enough- the nation needs a federal anti terror unit.Never mind the move is going to be unpalatable to many local politicians. This should have been done long back.The existing, impotent system did have a role to play in the loss of these officers.Sad!
