The latest assault on the Headquarters of the ISI in Peshawar shows that even the hand that fed and nurtured them to reach their present strength and intensity, is not spared.If the West fails in its operations in Afghanistan, Pakistan will have only the options of a civil war or complete Talibisation. Both will be disastrous in South Asia.May one suggest that an offer of assistance by India in the operations in Afghanistan, with all the ramifications involved, may be considered by us to stabilise the situation. Who knows there may be a change of heart in Pakistan's attitude to India; it may be an added gamble in the region and worth taking.

Although, i understand the exclusion of the Marathi youth from the financial success of their state, i do not agree that the MNS is any different from the RJD or the SP in its policies. They are, like most politicians, power hungry pigs. Also, the Shiv Sena stood for Marathi pride at one point and their success in the saffronisation of the state is apparent in the ugly head of neo-hindu terrorism from the Malegoan blasts to the recent Maragoan blasts (the SS consists largely of Marathis and Kannadigas. So, before we confer the wings of angels on the thackerays, i think retrospect is required. Balashaheb also endorsed the hindu terrorists calling them heroes and has also expressed open admiration for hitler as has Raj. After, the 26/11 attacks, inspite of the peaceful candlelight vigils held by the middle class, the thackerays attempted to politicize the events by going and breaking the cds of Pakistani artists mostly taken from poor roadside vendors.
