BSP wins 5 of 11 assembly seats, big blow to SP

Lucknow: Handing defeat to Samajwadi Party, the BSP on Tuesday succeeded in making deep inroads into the SP bastion. The blow was severe for the Samajwadi Party, as it not only lost from its stronghold of Etawah and Bharthana, but was also handed over defeat by the Congress from Firozabad parliamentary   ....Read more

why this editorial confusion?By: ramanathan | Wednesday , 11 Nov '09 8:05:56 AM Reply | Forward the last four paras deal with terrorist attack in Pakistan in an article on UP elections!!!!
by electionsBy: vijailugani | Wednesday , 11 Nov '09 2:39:36 AM Reply | Forward electorates in india are wise enough. they have thrown away party like sp. who harps as a secular party and b.j.p. hinduparty in the water og ganga to wash there sins b.s.p. proved as messiah of dalits congress party getting there old base back slowly and slowly of work done by rahul gandi .
Depressed UP wala living outside of StateBy: ved | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 21:16:00 PM Reply | Forward The dynamic of UP's election is caste based politics. Maya will win the elections till her caste equations are right. Mulayam got defeated due to his cozzyness with Kalyan singh and consequently alienation of Muslims. Irrespective of Development or no development, Maya or Mulayam will win untill our dear public will start voting on the basis of development and progress. And till then we will be abused everywhere in India.
Depressed UP wala living outside of StateBy: ved | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 20:35:38 PM Reply | Forward In UP's election, it is the caste combination and religious affilation which works more than voters willingness. The development or no development Maya will win till her equations r right. Mulayam got defeated due to his cozzyness with Kalyan singh and consequently alienation of Muslims. If majority of people start voting for development, neither Maya nor Mulayam will hold their forte. And ofcourse winners will be the people of UP and forward looking canditates.
NDTV debates dont decide electionsBy: Rammohan | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 17:15:14 PM Reply | Forward The high voltage icon road show had no effct in UP where Maya still rules the masses. There is a switch from SP to Congress the muslim votes. As they are smart to be on the winning side SP's base is shrinking.Regaining UP will be tall task for Rahul Sonia family
UP PEOPLEBy: NIRANJAN | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 16:46:27 PM Reply | Forward IT APPEARS THAT UP PEOPLE REJECTED DEVELOPMENT IN FAVOR OF MAYAWATI STATUES. SO, THEY WILL KICKED AROUND BY THE LIKES OF MNS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO GO TO OTHER STATES IN SEARCH OF JOBS!
About developmentBy: Gagan | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 21:19:16 PM Reply | Forward Development is the word which is used differently by different people. You just saw results of Haryana's no 1 development agenda and how miserably congress performed (people almost rejected it). I am in USA and last yr went to my home state Punjab (considered as a one of the most developed state), I did not see much improvement(especially in lower caste people's life) even though I went there after 10 yrs. I bet congress will win again there next election and lose after another election (both ruling parties fooling lower caste people especially dalits on the name of pro-agriculture/development policies). On ground, I beleive dalits do not have even more than 3% of land. Dalits (Especially) votes makes them ruler but all they do is cheating them. At least mayawati is giving them self respect which other can not able to give even that.
SELF RESPECTBy: NIRANJAN | Wednesday , 11 Nov '09 8:44:37 AM Reply | Forward THERE IS NO SELF RESPECT WITHOUT EDUCATION AND JOBS. YOU ARE IN USA BECAUSE OF EDUCATION. ALSO, STATUES JUST BOOSTS THE EGO OF THE PERSON WHOSE STATUE IT IS, OR OF THE RELATIVES IF THE PERSON IS DEAD. STATUES DON'T DO MUCH FOR THE DALITS AND POOR PEOPLE.
About developnmentBy: Gagan | Wednesday , 11 Nov '09 21:44:20 PM Reply | Forward What development you are talking about when such a big percentage of population especially dalits do not have right to live even with dignity. People need to be have self confidence before they can develop in their personal life. So far all the so called farward caste parties have failed miserable. BSP is revulation and not such party. BSP need just strong leaders like mayawati to prove this point b/c other parties are just fooling everyone. I will agree with you to some extent regarding statue but only when you say same thing about Ghandi/nehru statue all ove the Inia.
Mulayam Singh has himeself to blame - Congress must introspectBy: arun kumar | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 16:16:10 PM Reply | Forward SP came into prominence on pretext of "Babari Masjid" but there after its image became that of a Political Dalal. Amar Singh, un called for support to UPA even when UPA made no request, formation of a third front, some times with left sometimes with Congress - in general they never looked like a party having any direction or aim in politics except forming a pressure group and negotiating price for support. Next on line is CPM and people like Ajit Singh,Laloo Yadav. BSP's performance has been commendable in by elections and the real fight in UP will now be between BSP and BJP. Congress has also faced rout in UP assembly. Raj Babbar's victory is anti vote against SP and not for Congress party. If that was so then BSP candidate would not have won in Etah assembly constituency defeating SP and Congress. These elections are warning for Congress in a way that will they become a Kerala,Tamilnadu party or will be able to maintain some existence North of Vdharbha? Haryana too is almost gone.
Arun kumar Your analysis is foolishBy: JAIBHARAT-INDIAN | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 22:33:05 PM Reply | Forward This fool says the real fight is between BSP and BJP. It is 100% foolish dream of RSS. BJP will never come to power in UP. BJP is paying the price of Babri Masjid demolition. It is the term of Dalits and backwards to rule Brahmins with the help of Muslims.
TIME FOR INTROSPECTIONBy: Rana | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 19:11:56 PM Reply | Forward A very good analysis.
Smajwadi Party's maullingBy: Varinder | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 15:52:15 PM Reply | Forward The defeat of Samajwadi party in UP like the defeat of CPM in Bengal was inevitable> Both parties committed a grave sin by supporting UPA at one or the other time and this sin cannot be pardoned by masses who are reeling under high prices, lawlessness and atrocities.
Very illogical Mr. VirenderBy: astrix91 | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 16:24:57 PM Reply | Forward What a stupid comment by you Mr. Varinder. If that is the reason for CPM's defeat how do you justify the win of TMC which is not only supporting the UPA govt. but is an part of it. think before you put in your comments. Reasons are many not just supporting UPA. Probably supporting UPA is not a reason at all for their defeat since TMC has done exceedingly well in these by pools.
TMC will be uprooted in next electionsBy: Indian | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 17:23:04 PM Reply | Forward Just wait for next elections.TMC will aslo be uprooted in WB so also in TN
Do some good too.By: Avinash Baranwal | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 15:38:37 PM Reply | Forward Only win is not enough...Do sth good when people are trusting you. Else BSP will see the future of Lalu Jee's party. Do sth for the state so that your people do not have to migrate to other state and become a mocking stuffs. You guys have everything needed to prosper...Only a will and better management will bring prosperity to you guys. Good luck to people of UP and Bihar.
SP days are now over.By: Jafar Zaidi | Tuesday , 10 Nov '09 15:31:13 PM Reply | Forward It is evident that SP has lost Minority support in UP who alongwith Yadav were main Vote Bank. Congress is certainly to gain and should consolidate its position as BJP is also no where to encash the situation in UP. BSP's fate, despite recent successes, does not look good because of Mayawati's unpopular policies regional existence.
