Look at these PB members or Bardwan. THEY WERE THERE FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS OR SO. They were enjoying the benifits being leaders and now the cadres become more aware of this started taking advantage of that and exhorting people. The CPM cadres form the bulk of head load workers in Kerala and they just work like a mafia. The small ring leaders negotiate the charges even for unloading a truck. The person using the service will be compelled to cough up large sum of money and once it is recieved he may give half of that or less to the laboures, pocket the other half as his commission. Some of these ring leaders had built palace like houses in Kerala and enjoying a good life while the worker suffers. It seems they are becoming wiser and CPM and CPI are now doomed. BJP too is a cadre based party but they encourage gen next better.

I do not recall a single instance where Mr Bardhan expressed such doubts in public. On the contrary, he was every step of the way with Mr Karat, the public face of CPI(M)'s wrath at the so-called sell-out of India's interests to American Imperialists.

True that the cadres are arrongant, but where they learn from? Only from the leaders. WB CM said, "we are 235 and they are 20, nobody can stop nano at singur", he also said the democratically elected Dalmia as "evil" ... the list is endless. On the other hand the CPI, FB, RSP are only the satellites of CPM, they had to depend on CPM for their bread and butter and therefore they had to tolerate all muscle flexing by CPM. Very very pathetic situation.

Can’t be a shark'By: Pradeep Nag | Monday , 29 Jun '09 11:02:51 AM Reply | Forward It is great that CPI stalwart has understood the real issue.Cadres are soul of the Left.A party is known by the type of cadres they keep.It is high time that if you wish to win assembly election in 2011 you need to:1.Make strict guidelinelines on do's and don'ts for cadres.2.Exemplenary punishment to wrong doings of the cadres will go a long way to win people's confidence.3.Root out corruption from People-Cadres-Bureaucrats vicious circle.4.Show your opposition but donot get absorbed in issues which donot directly affect people lives( Nuclear Deal for example).5.Do not fear or delay to use your police force for establishing law and order.6.Be democratic,donot politicize police.Improve police morale by training and reforms.7.Be first state to initiate state police reformand bring transparency to police recruitment.8.Do not allow few in politburo to deviate ruining the fruits of years of left struggle for people.

They are the wealthiest and they collect what they want , at many parts of the sate ,through extorshion. Directly through, for example, the Bucket collection , and indirectly by terrorising through trade uninims. They have nothing agaist their caders who collect money for work whaich they do not do. Partly one has to criticise the people also; who has very unfortunately , has started subjugating themsleves for all these.

Over the years political expediency and lessons of history has given way to Western/Chinese Style arrogance. Mr. Bardhan's assessment about the behaviour of their cadres in quite correct. But when we have business folks like Karat and Jyoti Basu, does one expect the cadres to be different? There is only one Nripen Chakraborty who lived and died in Tripura MLA hostel. That is the only asset he had. But times have changed and political equations are different. I am sure the prescription of humility advocated will see a drain of the cadres to other oppurtunistic groups. In truth, the Marxist can change colour the way the Chinese have.
