increasing judges in high / supreme courtsBy: S.M.Aurora | Monday , 24 Nov '08 0:06:02 AM Reply | Forward The number of judges has no bearing on pendency of cases; it is the national character of our judiciary and committment of our advocates whose only motive is to fleece the citizens which matters.Unless our national management systems in courts including high courts and supreme courts honour competence of judges to speedily issue judgements
Unions for AdvocatesBy: S Krishnan | Sunday , 23 Nov '08 19:23:48 PM Reply | Forward The government should also ban Advocates unions affiliation to any political party. When police cannot have union, how can we allow advocates. How can we expect an advocate who is in a union affiliated to Political party when turns into a Public Prosecutor to be unbiased. Currently in many states people have faith only in Judiciary, lets not rot that also.
Adjournments to CasesBy: S Krishnan | Sunday , 23 Nov '08 19:19:42 PM Reply | Forward Yes, the adjournments should be restricted like a maximum of two per case for each party to that case. Then only we can atleast think of a verdict.
lawBy: yohan | Sunday , 23 Nov '08 18:12:17 PM Reply | Forward appointing additional judges is a welcome move. however, the criminal and civil laws should be amended to stipulate certain durations by which a case must be settled once for all. for example, criminal cases should not go beyond a period of one year and civil litigations should be solved within 2-3 years. the number of adjournments to be taken by each side should also be restricted. not more than 3 adjournments should be allowed for each side. if more adjournments are sought heavy penalty should be imposed. also advocates, accused and even judges who fail to appear after fixing a date should be penalized for default. the accused or his representatives should not be allowed to meet or call any judges to influence them, which is becoming a curse in recent times. hope the whole law can be looked into more transparency. having said all this, we feel antony should not interfere in other's portfolio. the concerned minister should have told this announcement.
Good NewsBy: Manish Joddar | Sunday , 23 Nov '08 17:41:31 PM Reply | Forward hope this had happened much before
