China wants to join Navy initiative on Indian Ocean, MEA says no need

New Delhi: Pushing for a greater say in the Indian Ocean region, China has sounded out the Indian Navy that it wants to be inducted in some form into the 33-member Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) initiative started by India last year. But the Ministry of External Affairs has turned down the request. I  ....Read more

Chinese can never be trustedBy: javed | Tuesday , 1 Sep '09 10:34:55 AM Reply | Forward China can be never b trusted. Its strategical policy has always an anti-indian touch.Militarily speaking china is far much advanced than india.its military spending this year has touched a minimum of 70 billion $.Astonishing..eh!!Talks with china will never be succesful jus bcos they dont want to make it succesfull.!!All these is because china sees india as a potential threat as far as its intresets are considerd in the sub continent.Chinese want to stop the high influence of india in its region and around the world. To tackle this we need to strengthen our intelligence
this must be stoppedBy: ram | Thursday , 18 Jun '09 10:42:52 AM Reply | Forward indian navy leadership did a good thing by turning down the request. why we should allow to participate, a country which is known hostile towards us by selling nuclear technology to pakistan. This is clear move on the part of china's planning to collect intelligence regarding the sea route and deployment of warships, key naval bases, etc.at this juncture the military leadership of india must strongly reject such kind of moves of china.
Present reality and future over pastBy: Vivek | Wednesday , 22 Apr '09 22:39:48 PM Reply | Forward The MEA decision is not based on reality but pretensions. The reality is that China is already an economic superpower. Instead of looking back, MEA needs to look forward to a day when China emerges as the largest economic and military power. China needs a stable subcontinent so that uighurs and others in its borders are not radicalized. Might as well look forward to working out a better relationship.
China planning a War!By: pete | Wednesday , 22 Apr '09 19:38:56 PM Reply | Forward It gives me a feeling that China is planning a war against India in the near future. It already has established a strong military base near the Arunachal Pradesh border area, with nuclear weapons pointing towards India. And now it wants to collect details about the sea route too. India needs a strong leader to secure our territory.

DO NOT FORGET China's 1962 invasion!( I was in the IAF in India then!!) I agree 100% with John Watson! In reply India should ask China to allow India to be involved in the Chinese Navy's future plans!! JAI HIND!!
THEREATS TO THE COUNTRY FORM ALL DIRECTIONSBy: S Rao | Tuesday , 21 Apr '09 23:32:06 PM Reply | Forward Communist China is surreptitiously slyly engaged in manipulative diplomacy in collaboration with some of the SARC
China Navy in Indian OceanBy: John Watson | Tuesday , 21 Apr '09 23:26:02 PM Reply | Forward Would the P.R.C. let Indian Navy in the "China Sea"?, of course not they are pulling the same ^
Numerous examples of China trying to suppress IndiaBy: Brij Bihari | Tuesday , 21 Apr '09 21:42:53 PM Reply | Forward It opposed loans to India at ADB recently. It opposed India entering into civil nuclear cooperation with the rest of the world at NSG (as is well known), but also at IAEA (where it included a dissent not). It opposes India being included in ASEAN summits. Take a look at news reports about India which Xinhua highlights (i.e. those news reports which show India in bad light) esp those related to 26/11 terrorist attack - always tyring to project India as being "unreasonable" against a "plausible" sounding Pakistan. That MEA opposed Chinese Navy's entry into the Indian Ocean is an obvious reaction, which no one misses.
China India CooperationBy: Jim | Tuesday , 21 Apr '09 18:01:50 PM Reply | Forward Soon China will become the largest trading partner for India again...like what happened for millennium before...Same story applies to Pakistan and Bangladesh...because India and Pakistan, Bangladesh used to be one...So the relationship of China with these 3 countries used to be close and friendly, especially India... If only the countries didn't separated into 3, then China and other countries won't have to choose side...Why now it is separated into three countries? You don't ask China....You go ask yourself, its not China who mastermind it….Why China had to choose side that time, which is Pakistan, instead of India? Again, don't ask China.Because of politic…people have to make choice even if people do not like the decision.Remember….when there was war between India and Pakistan, China did not want to have any involvement…even when Pakistan insisted.
engaging china.By: biren | Tuesday , 21 Apr '09 15:52:46 PM Reply | Forward Well.. one shouldnt lose the touch with reality.. U cant deny that China holds significant stakes and control in all matters global.. they hold the key to the financial crisis. Thus increasingly China is being accommodated at all foras across the globe. By keeping China out of the IONS, may not be a very prudent move. In todays scenario, it is prudent to engage China than shun it. Eveven US and others have engaged China PLA Navy through AMAN 2009 exercises conducted by Pakistan. We got to grow big and reality..
