Washington: Eagerly looking forward to her trip to India later this month, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she is excited about her forthcoming visit to New Delhi. Indian Mass Media's attitudeBy: Raj Chander | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 22:31:15 PM Reply | Forward I completely agree with Dr. Rayatha. Whenever anyone from a foreign country comes to India - whether a politician, celebrity, sports person, we line up to garland them and put tilak on their foreheads. That is why they take us for granted. For example, this richard geare guy had the guts to forcibly kiss Shilpa Shetty on stage because he knew he was literally "worshipped" in India simply because he is from a foreign country. Please stop giving too much importance to anyone visiting India from a foreign land and have some self respect first.
Most comments in poor tasteBy: Rajendra Kumar | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 21:11:38 PM Reply | Forward Going through the comments here I find most of them in poor taste of a mind set which has no basis in today's world. Gone are the days when Americans used to dictate terms and gone are the days when Indians used to get dictated. Grow up guys. In my view present day Indian leadership is far more evoled than most of you are. Rest assured, Indian leaders will deal with Mrs Clintor or for that matter anyone at equal terms and in national interest.
Indian Mass Media's attitude - GLORIFYING SUPER POWER - WHY?By: Dr. Divyesh Raythatha | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 19:14:59 PM Reply | Forward Mrs. Clinton plans to visit India, and our media has started reporting with a big bang. Why is it so? When President Clinton had planned his visit to India, one month in advance our journalists started reporting minutest details of his visit, his likes and dislikes in food, etc and spreading RED CARPET long before his visit. Why is this so? Don't we have any self-respect? According to our Indian culture we do respect and treat nicely our guests, but why such an approbation and an attitude of so much high regards for any western dignitary? Do our Indian leaders get the same treatment when they visit the US or other nations? Are US media taking note of our leaders before, during, and after their visit? Hardly a little space (a single column) might be granted by print media, but I am yet to see any such news telecast on American TV. Please Indian Media, have some self-respect and self-control in the coverage of foreign leaders and don't be so competent andover-enthusiastic.
Hillary Clinton Visiting India....By: Prakash Kanungo | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 16:35:59 PM Reply | Forward Without being offensive or too personal...apology tendered in advance if you do feel hurt...(We Indians are used to being "Hurt" by our own spineless leadership...so you are from USA... and we will not feel hurt )India will be very "Grateful" to her if she could convince herself "FIRST" and then try explain to Indian public if she can differentiate and justify : Good Taliban from Bad Taliban...same way as from Good Monica Levensky from Bad... and believe me this nation of "Spineless leaders" will thank you from bottom of our hearts..Genuinely.....to clar the air about Obama Administrations "Af-Pak" game plans.....
@cliton's visitBy: John | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 15:55:40 PM Reply | Forward She is excited because she might be a fan of Indian food. Otherwise the US has nothing to talk to India as long as they keep supporting Pakis.
what about BillBy: Saleem | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 15:48:08 PM Reply | Forward Is she carrying along Bill with her or comming alone??
Why is Mrs.Hilary coming to IndiaBy: freddie (Indian) | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 14:59:57 PM Reply | Forward I feel when Mrs.Hilary comes to India she need to declare to the Indian public what she wants from India and what ruling party is going to do. I do not trust the present govt because their reaction and action does not suite the Indian public. When we have a puppet govt ruling and secondly an Italian lady ruling from outside it is high time the govte declare why Mrs.Hilary is coming and for what? I hope the puppet govt knows she is coming for America interest and If Dr.MMS if he is not able to speak to the lady then he need to retire and enjoy is old age.
Spineless LeadersBy: R.Kannan | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 14:37:49 PM Reply | Forward She will be excited. The US government funds terror attacks on India by routing it through Pakistan and the Indian governments do not even protest. Our political leadership welcomes such visits !The biggest threat to civilisation is a terrorist outfit called the Pak army. The biggest financier of this terror outfit is the government of US represented by Clinton. If MMS
not so sure Mr P MukherjeeBy: rationalist | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 14:20:45 PM Reply | Forward Perhaps we Indians can mend our fences with Sri Lanka and Nepal, but relations with Bangladesh will improve ONLY after the whole of India embraces the Bangladeshis' violence preaching religion and the Indians themselves after their conversion try to convert Nepal,Sri Lanka and Bhutan to their new found religion.
Sway with the wind HillaryBy: Jay Mirch | Wednesday , 8 Jul '09 14:15:32 PM Reply | Forward People tend to remember Hillary as a pro-India first lady. She does not, however, belong to the same category of statesmen as her husband. She went hammer and tongs at the present president during the election campaign, yet endorsed his policies as Secretary of State. Clearly her agenda does not come even close to what India expects regarding Pakistan and, in my opinion, will be hard-pressed to even table a discussion on terrorism emanating from Pakistan. Nonetheless, it is eminently important that India engages the US on these and other issues, both political and economic, using all available platforms and fora. Her counterpart in India should be aware that she is a master at sweet-talk with little or no substance to back up. India must remain unrelentlessly focussed on terrorism and Pakistan. Maybe a quick look at the hard-hitting Iran and defiant N. Korea should prove to India that any compromise proneness is understood as a sign of weakness and exploited to their own advantage.
