Coarse correction

Rita Bahuguna Joshi, president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, has strange ways of expressing gender solidarity. After the BSP government distributed Rs 25,000 to Dalit rape victims, Joshi protested the paltriness of the gesture with some incredible crassness. The women should “throw the money a  ....Read more

Angry womenBy: Dr. Ram Chander Sharma | Friday , 17 Jul '09 18:09:44 PM Reply | Forward The happenings in UP badland and on a issue which hurts the women most-the comments of UP Congress Chief by Mrs. Bahuguna are most undesireable that too from a woman holding a resposible post. The way Mayawati is giving it a political colour is most unfortunate. The badlands of UP is famous for the crimes against women. This is a politics at its lowest.
UP DramaBy: M.V.Muthu | Friday , 17 Jul '09 18:09:37 PM Reply | Forward Stringent action might even be taken against Bahuguna but once the water has flown, things have cooled up, the media loses attention and public memory is wiped out, she may even be appointed as the Governor of UP some day.
Course correction vs Coarse correctionBy: P.N. Sarin | Friday , 17 Jul '09 17:37:21 PM Reply | Forward The root cause of the present fracas in UP is that both Congress and BSP want to improve their electoral prospects for the next State election. What we need is a "course correction" and not "coarse correction'. The right course would be to have separate political parties to contest State and National elections.
UP politics coarse correctionBy: thikal | Friday , 17 Jul '09 17:15:57 PM Reply | Forward Agreed that Bahuguna's remarks were offensive and no politician should use such coarse rhetoric against opponents or friends. But is Mayawati justified in sending lumpen elements to torch and burn down Bahuguna's house and property? Also, Bahuguna's remarks are identical to the remarks that Mayawati had made some years ago when she lambasted Mulayam Singh for compenating rape victims with money. Shouldn't there be coarse correction for Mayawati also?
this is just the begening...By: R.Chary | Friday , 17 Jul '09 15:54:40 PM Reply | Forward India will never progress under the Congress - not even 100 days are complete and look at their tally:1. MP calls up a judge in Chennai presumably to influence judgement2. Manmohan Singh forgives Pakistans terrorism and agrees to talks!3. The Finance Minister stops reforms; the Railway minister does good for her home state only4. The Bandra Worli sea link is named after Rajiv Gandhi despite the people not wanting it in his name5. Govt agrees to bail out Air India - a 3rd class organisation of corrupt and sub standard executives6. The PM promised 1250 crores for Mumbai in 2005, but the same problem happens again and Mumbai is flooded. But then if Congress can forgive Pakistans terrorism and agree to talks, what the big deal with a little water on the Mumbai streets?!Imagine what they'll do if they hang on for 4 years!
Congress By: Arya Newton | Friday , 17 Jul '09 18:23:40 PM Reply | Forward Everything you say above seem true and YET it is the people of India voted the Congress to power so who is to blame ? people get the government they deserve and it seems Indian people don't like progress
Mayawati By: Anil | Friday , 17 Jul '09 14:59:45 PM Reply | Forward If someone makes a defamatory statement, does that give the "hurt" party the right to go on a violent rampage. What Mayawati and her hoodlums have done is no better than what was allegedly said by Rita Joshi. Why is no politician ready to allow justice to take its course? Because all the politicians interfere in the justice process. They see themselves above the law. Thay are all the same in this regard. As long as the law makers see themselves above the law, they will resort to illegal means to get their way. Question for me is how do you clean it up. Over to serious media. You expose them and shame them, and get justice.
re; Maya RajBy: Giri | Friday , 17 Jul '09 14:13:02 PM Reply | Forward I support this comment. However, I add that the general behaviour, conduct, extreme corruption and arrogance of Mayavati must be condemned in as strong language as possible by everyone. Being a dalit is no excuse and should never be taken into account in judging a politician's conduct. Mayavati is the most disgusting politician ever! And the editorial of the Express has nothing to say about her misdeeds!
Put behind bardsBy: CRJ | Friday , 17 Jul '09 11:57:22 AM Reply | Forward Though I am not supporter of Mayawati Rita Bahuguna Joshi must put behind bars for the statment she ha made. Wht the hell is sonia doing? why is he keeping quite. Sonia should also be put behind bards
COARSE CORREC IONBy: Rajesh Vyas | Friday , 17 Jul '09 9:50:33 AM Reply | Forward THE CONGRESS LEADERSHIP IN UP IS NOW SHOWING ITS TRUE COLOURS. This may also be an act of desparation om part of Rita Bahuguna Joshi. She is probably feeling neglected by all the attention Rahul Gandhi gets in UP. Desparation or otherwise, dirty langage has no business in democracy. Justifying Rita Bahuguna will backfire on Congress. It must also be noted that two wrongs never make a right. Let the Congress not cite Mayawati's crass and unparliamentary language of yesteryears as justification for condoning Rita Bahuguna's statements
Responsible?By: Amit | Friday , 17 Jul '09 8:05:07 AM Reply | Forward This is an opportunity for the Congress, as a responsible party, to show that certain utterances carry heavy political costs, that they can wreck individual careers.Hey wake up and smell the coffee. There are no polical parties in India which behave responsibly or sensibly. It is against their creed.
