But, the Congress did benefit from the actions of the Maharashtra ATS which worked overtime to confirm existence of "Hindu terrorism". Look at the timing of exposing the alleged Hindu link to Malegaon blasts. Lalu had tried something less effective attempt when he appointed the Bannerjie commission and publishing an interim report just before the Bihar elections, but it did not work. Then, the entire secular brigade and media unleashed severe hate campaign against Modi just before Gujarat elections. They failed then also. But, this time they succeeded to some extent. Unfortunately, India has enough fools to believe the media hype about "Hindu Terrorism".They have already convicted the Sadhwi and Purohit even before their cases have come up for trial in any court of law. This definitely did help the Congress.

Those who are saying "Modi"'s visit to Taj at the time of attack was politicisation and people have voted against it, will prove themselves wrong in general elections.

This helped congress to win Delhi again and again. In Rajastan the strife between Guggara and Meenas and war these two communities waged with BJP was the main reason for the party's failure to capture more seats. In Rajastan no party got an absolute majority. The gain of Madhya Pradesh and Chatheeshgarh is worth for jubilation for the party. Mizoram which has just one parliamentary seat and Delhi which is only a glorified municipal corporation is not comparable with MP or Chatheesghargh.

Even though these elections were fought on local issues, we could sagfely assume vast majority of the Indian People did not consider our Nuclear deal with USA was a surrender at the cost of our national interest as critized by the opposition parties. It is victory for the Congress Party since they fought this election without much help from their UPA partners.This result again shows that Congress and BJP are the only true National Political Parties roots in most part of the country. If BJP leadership could keep their Hindutva agenda away, I don't see any reason why Congress and BJP cannot join hands to form a coalitiongovt at the centre abandonig their alliances with regional parties with personal, regional,communal interest.
