Deshmukh resignes.By: padmesh kumar varma | Friday , 5 Dec '08 1:52:40 AM Reply | Forward Dear Sir, At long last the persecutors were successful. He has been made a scape goat for the faults of others. There appears to be nothing wrong even if he took his son and a film producer with him to the Taj. Mr. LK Adwani used to take his wife and the daughter on official foreign tours when he used to be the deputy prime minister and the home minister. Deshmukh has become a prey of party and media intrigues.
Wake upBy: Novice | Friday , 5 Dec '08 0:52:41 AM Reply | Forward nothing new...The next will resign indicating some other case but the system will not change. It's Indians to decide and kick the worst so called (in the language of Omar Obdulla) polical prost.tutes
Where does the buck stop?By: Mrinal Mandal | Friday , 5 Dec '08 0:22:46 AM Reply | Forward Instead of this resignation drama with moral responsibility, a better approach is to find out who is actually responsible for these security lapses, and penalize them. It is not the job of the CM to stand on the Mumbai shore and look for any attackers. The security of the country is in many hands. If Maha CM is one of the culprits, throw him out. Otherwise, there is no end in the resignation drama. For example, the Indian PM had some responsibility too - let him resign also. Congress President selected Deshmukh as Maha CM - she should also resign for her wrong selection. Where does the buck stop?
India's Mugabe?By: TV Puram | Thursday , 4 Dec '08 23:00:55 PM Reply | Forward Robert Mugabe is still going strong after two and a half decades. He, along with Deshmukh may be allowed the similar quantum and quality of glory.( The latter had to perform 'Lavani' for Sonia family, though.)
Responsibility By: snehasheela | Thursday , 4 Dec '08 22:14:08 PM Reply | Forward 1. No doubt that he should go.2.But People of MH should make that decision not his party boss in delhi.3.We nee more decision and independence for for stattes to decide their affires4 How can people in delhi can know what a state needs interms of food/security day to day matters.5.A CM should report to people not to PARY bosses 6.CM should be accountable to people who elect them7.Please should have a chance to recall mla/cm/pm councellor etc7.We need a change to constitution and Direct Democracy...onlt that ensures effective governence8.Basic Question who makes a CM/MLA ?? people right, then whay they report to Pary Bosses?....that's tragegdy......Time to rework on constitution
Says It All.By: R | Thursday , 4 Dec '08 21:12:08 PM Reply | Forward A placard in Mumbai said it all ......" Desh-moorkh".
next what ? Governership ?By: Surya | Thursday , 4 Dec '08 20:58:51 PM Reply | Forward 'Moral responsibility' , whoever coined this sacred pharse would never have imagined that it will be abused by wretched indian politician as a means of an escape route. Its a very convinient way to run away from a burning house after the party. Deshmukh's government minted crores as the real estate boomed during his reign. Its like loot and plunder during broad day light. As some one rightly said, he will be made governer of some state and will enjoy kingly perks there at people's tax money only to come back when the new CM ( as usual ) messes up. Hope this cycle breaks some day.

Deshmukh resigns, ends the 2nd longest term in MahaBy: Christopher | Thursday , 4 Dec '08 20:19:20 PM Reply | Forward Vilasrao Deshmukh should never again become Chief Minister. He has let the people down many times especially during the Mumbai deluge, the anti-NortIndian terror attacks and 26/11.He has shown scant regard for the safety and welfare of the people.
