Hayden repeats ‘India a third world country’

Melbourne, November 20: : Australia opener Matthew Hayden on Thursday stood by his comment about India being a ‘third world country’ but insisted he never meant to disrespect the nation or its citizens and said by 'third world' he meant a large section of the Indian population that are living below the poverty line. I like HaydenBy: Hari | Sunday , 23 Nov '08 17:25:13 PM Reply | Forward I especially admire the way he has an IQ in the 60s but still holds his head so high, and is so proud, and waxes eloquent on macro economics. It frustrates me that certain sections of humanity want to take someone like him down.
HaydenBy: Reddy | Sunday , 23 Nov '08 11:55:33 AM Reply | Forward The Aussies are the fools. Hayden's and Ponting's books are to sell is Australia and not many any where else.So it doesnt matter that they are choosing to give thier countrymen all the lies. Good luck.

hayden is rightBy: vishal | Friday , 21 Nov '08 22:23:10 PM Reply | Forward India most certainly is a third world country. From our poverty to our corruption. From our squaler to the animals on our streets. From our lack of drinking waters/ electricity even in the cities to the propensity of our rural population and a large section of our urban population also to defacate in the open - India is out and out a third world country. Those gleaming sky scrappers and those shiny malls notwithstanding.
hayden's remark on IndiaBy: Priyanka | Friday , 21 Nov '08 20:23:37 PM Reply | Forward WHO CARES WHAT HE SAYS. AND WHY GIVE IT ANY IMPORTANCE? HE IS ONLY AN OPENING BATSMEN!!!
Heyden Vs Third World CountriesBy: A.NATARAJAN | Friday , 21 Nov '08 19:27:08 PM Reply | Forward I feel that undue publicity is given by the Press and Media for all the non-sense uttered by these Aussies. The best thing is just to ignore their comments. Atleast the Indian Press should do that. One by one these Aussies are uttering non-sense statements and we are simply wasting our time commenting on that. Better we put a full stop to that. But one appeal to all these Australian Players. Please don't ever venture to tour THIRD WORLD countries. Play Club matches at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane etc. We don't want you here any more. Okey.
HaydenBy: Dr. Ash Sood | Friday , 21 Nov '08 18:17:52 PM Reply | Forward I respect Methew Haydens view as a indivisual and we should acknowledge the respect he has for our country.India is indeed left to be a 'third world' country in economic sense by the people who plundered its wealth for centuries (iam sure mathew reads the history) but India is still miles ahead than the @first world' as far as moral and cultural vales are concerned.Except for the criminals and politicians all Indians are ready to give their last piece of bread to their guests smilingly and be proud about that.
Read up 3d worldBy: Ghanshyam Das | Friday , 21 Nov '08 17:04:13 PM Reply | Forward Third world is a descriptive term, not a pejorative term. Please look up wikipedia. It will help separate emotions from rationality! It has acquired connotations of backwardness over time, but if that is true then there must be facts to support that conception. Cause for reflection and not a knee-jerk reaction.
