Its the way you look at itBy: Su | Sunday , 1 Nov '09 10:00:45 AM Reply | Forward Its just that we live in a society.... Every god and goddess of any religion is associated with sanctity... which can not be tampered publicly... Some people may not care... But some do.. as they believe in them.... She is a public figure who is judged constantly... She should have though about the repercussions...
Everyone is commenting without knowing the factBy: gopinathan | Thursday , 6 Nov '08 14:13:22 PM Reply | Forward For the kind information of all ignorant people posting comments about this news: Halloween is a day celebrated in the US during which people dress up or wear scaring horrible costumes to appear like devils to scare away devils or witches. Now this question to everyone saying nothing is wrong in it and advicing us to be patient: Will you say it is ok to dress up like Kali in an event meant to dress up like scary devil like creatures? Do you all mean to say Kali is a devil? If you all still preach to those opposing this event to be silent, then it means you all are considering Kali a devil. And the most of all, will you all preach the same to people of other religions if their gods were insulted in the same way? And why does Heidi Klum not dress up like Mary or Jesus for Halloween? She won't. Because she knows the meaning of Halloween.
ToleranceBy: Sam | Thursday , 13 Nov '08 19:11:35 PM Reply | Forward Dude, I live in the US and am Indian. Lots of Indians participate in Halloween parties. None of us want to drive away devils or feel remotely Christiany because of a party. For a lot of us, including Americans, it's a holiday, where many parties get thrown. In these parties, you are supposed to dress up. The range of dress up can be from doctors-nurses to Jesus to Mother Teresa and there is not a single famous personality that isn't caricatured. The point is to take it good naturedly, not to offend anyone. So logic would prevail, that if someone is not trying to offend you in their private affair, why would you feel offended? Just cause they are famous and you happen to think, gee, I am allowed to dress up as Kali, but not her, she's famous, and must surely think bad about us Hindus.Take it easy. If you really want to object to something, do something about corruption and poverty in India.Peace.Sam
Hindus should learnBy: D.Bose | Wednesday , 5 Nov '08 9:27:47 AM Reply | Forward Hindus should not worship Kali or siva Linga. These are gross distortions of Hinduism. there was no mention about Siva or Kali in the Hindu Sastras like Vedas, Upanishads and Bhagwat Gita. Thus Hindus must not worship anything not recommended by our Sastras. According to Sri Krishna We should not worship any deity at all or build temples, but observe only the paths recommended by him: Gana Yoga and Karma Yoga. It is unfortunate that Hindus do not read Sastras and follow the wrong paths and accepts anything that can satisfy their feelings irrespective of what is written in the Sastras. There is no Gods or Goddeses in Hindu religion, but only One Creator Brahman.

HinduismBy: ankur | Wednesday , 5 Nov '08 5:10:08 AM Reply | Forward To all those who are criticizing saffron for taking up the cause of Hinduism and to logical person citing American hindu Community as an immature children do they even know what the hinduism stands for. Hinduism is bigger than religion and infact it is a way of life. By portraying and making a mockery of devi kali they have mocked at the way we live and offended the whole of India. Saffron workers are only reacting in this way because of cong following a poilicy of appeasement for muslims which has created a divide between hindus and muslims. Saffron party is just protecting hinduism from Islam. Nobody criticizes when there are attacks on temple but our cong leaders take pain to visit terrorisits in jails and visit them and sympathises with them. It has become a fashion to criticize Hinduism specially when ur hindu. All of u who do that do that in order to show that ue very cool guys.In fact you have uprooted ur basic roots on which u were brought up.
Chill out!By: Prateek Awasthi | Wednesday , 5 Nov '08 2:28:39 AM Reply | Forward We Indians need to be more tolerant. We can't throw a fuss like this all the time. If we make fun of George Bush, we don't see Americans shouting at us. If we dress up as Count Dracula, we don't see Eastern Europeans shouting. We have to learn to be comfortable with out culture. Goddess Kali is the goddess of destruction. And whether you like it or not, she has a scary avatar. So if a German woman takes the effort to dress us as her, we should see it as a sign that Indian culture is getting popular abroad. Take it easy.

The villages believe in female infanticide, we have a caste system..honestly?! y dont you do the educated hindus a favour and switch religions ok? I hate when people use religion as a base for social agendas and shamless character defamation
HinduismBy: Kashiu mallya | Wednesday , 5 Nov '08 1:14:55 AM Reply | Forward If every thing offends Hindus , then they should all stay in India where this "offensive , sensitive, Sentimental behaviour" is take to the courts! Why do these fellows go to the counbtries where rEAL freedom is practiced and make an issue over every silly thing???
Fail to see the desecrationBy: Jai Khurana | Wednesday , 5 Nov '08 0:35:03 AM Reply | Forward I dont think Indian culture is that weak that it will be tarnished by a costume worn by a foreign female. During Halloween many people dress in mystical, mythical and religious figures. She did not desecrate the godess in any way . Many Indians also wear such costumes during plays and smoke beedi when on them . If that is not offensive why is this . Is this just because she is a gori or what ? . The only thing I thgt she said was that Maa Kali looked like a mean godess which can at best be termed ignorant on her part . But then Americans and foreigners are known to be ignorant of Asian culture anyway . So all those Zed's and A's and B's . Please dont act immature .
NRI Hindu fanaticsBy: Suraj Singh | Tuesday , 4 Nov '08 23:31:40 PM Reply | Forward NRIs are immature biggest Hindu fanatics. They do nothing for India. Our religion has a history of tolerance. How does Ms Klum's costume change our religion?Hinduism is greater than Ms Klum.
