Regarding Fighter PlanesBy: kiran G patil | Wednesday , 2 Sep '09 15:16:34 PM Reply | Forward It is very nice to hear that india will procure 230 planes by 2015, but according to me the actucal challenge is china before india, chinese currently have 1600 planes and india might have only 550 , in next five years chine is going to procure 400 new planes to meet tackle against china india will have to secure their air boundreis with advanced planes so india will have to aquire maximum no of planes becasue indian airforce is much weaker today, really speaking corruption must be avoided in deal like bribe case, because it is question of security of india.

This would mean that the IAF will have 230 126=356 combat aircraft by 2015.The 126 aircraft MMRCA deal will cost India US $ 10.2 billion which means that each aircraft a little over US $ 79 million per aircraft. With this kind of money India can have 126X2 = 256 SU-30 MKIs as each Sukhoi 30 aircraft costs just half of its MMRCA counterpart. That is , by 2015 India will have 230 256 = 486 modern combat aircraft. In addition this will achieve economies of scale in handling / inventory carrying and continuity when India starts getting the T-50/PAK FA fifth generation Sukhoi aircraft which iscurrently underdevelopment.This should be seriously considered by the powers that be in the IAF and Indian Government
