Expressing gratitudesBy: Geethu Anna Rajan | Sunday , 16 Nov '08 6:43:17 AM Reply | Forward i would like to thank the chandrayan team and especially Madhavan Nair for this great achievement for our country. We Indians are really proud.
Why is new achievedBy: kavitha | Sunday , 16 Nov '08 3:35:12 AM Reply | Forward I fail to understand why it is an achievement. It is all money game. What new contributed by our scientist or so called engineers. This technology is 50 year old. Government should not reward so called scientists of ISRO. It is just waste od money
Poor family squandering money on costly toysBy: sanjay | Sunday , 16 Nov '08 3:27:37 AM Reply | Forward Mr. Madhvan Nair of ISRO should understand that India is a poor country. It is just like a poor family unable to feed mouth of kids wasting money on extremely costly toys like chandrayaan. Mr. Nair be responsible India. Now again this article indicates that these scientist expect reward for the toy they made, which is again wastage of money and distribution of funds to those (engineers) who already have money. It would have been better to distribute money to those who stay in slum, or spending money on education of socially backward classes.

Manned MissionBy: Rabin Mahanta | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 19:12:25 PM Reply | Forward ISRO needs to have a target date for manned space flight now that the lunar mission is accomplished. This is important from defence point of view
chandrayanBy: ramachandran | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 18:25:20 PM Reply | Forward This is the time for the big corporates to wake up. Whilst it is very well apreciated about their sole contribution to cricket, come on do something different now and prove you are moving with the changes in India's technological advancement. A foot note: A great salute to the man who planted it all: Pandit Nehru
Monatory incentive is a mustBy: C.K.Sunil | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 16:07:55 PM Reply | Forward All ISRO personnel associated with the Chandrayan -1 shall be rewarded with minimum one year salaey as incentave. $ 380 million project is the cheapest in the world and we can add a few million more to that by way of incentives to the team. Congradulation and that kind of sweet words carry no weight unless it is reinforced with some monatory incentatives. Anyway our sceintist's salary is very poor and that is the reason why there are not much takers for R
Waste of moneyBy: SANJAY | Sunday , 16 Nov '08 3:29:03 AM Reply | Forward Dont you think it is waste of money
Appreciate the space employeesBy: G Sundar | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 19:47:21 PM Reply | Forward Excellant point Sunil. As Ramachandran noted our corporates should join and do whatever they can to help monetarily all the space industry employees. Our scientist's salary is poor and they didn't do this successful mission for the sake of money. But still the government must help them to improve their monetary position.
Moon MissiionBy: U N Han | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 15:10:05 PM Reply | Forward It is not known what is the advantage to India sending a mision to the Moon spending Crores and Crores of Rupees.. Is it a prestigious adventure ignoring Lacs an Lacs of people who go to bed without food? The money spent on this adventurous venture would have been utilised for the welfare of the poor and development of the countryside..
Chandrayaan and Poverty in IndiaBy: MMK Rao | Saturday , 22 Nov '08 17:37:40 PM Reply | Forward Your logic is untenable. Do you know that even in the US and in Russia, which are among the top spacefarers of the world, there are poor people huddled in thousands in slums? One very far off, long advantage of sending space missions is to explorations of celestial bodies which can result in new technologies of great use on earth, elements and minerals which can be made or mined in them, and the like. While there is so much poverty, there is also fight among the rich and the affluent, why? Our poverty, moreover, is largely attributable to inefficient and corrupt distribution methods and channels even while production is high and more than sufficient for all.
Reply to MR. UN KHANBy: ak | Sunday , 16 Nov '08 3:46:28 AM Reply | Forward Mr. Kahn you are right but dont you think that poverty will always remain until we take measures for population control and adopt family planning scheme irrespective of religions or caste.
Moon mission reply to U N HANBy: manish | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 19:40:08 PM Reply | Forward You are right mr. Han that it is right to utilise money for welfare.Rightly said but i don't think u r able to understand the kind of achievement it is for our country. We can't wait untill the poverty removed completely. If we wait then we have to wait for few centuries.Poverty is something which will remain always.ISRO is achieving this feat at the lowest cost in the world and one more thing that this is not for adventure...correct me if i wrong..the prime objective of this project is to analyse and fine the availability of Helium-3 on moon.According to some reports entire earth contains just 15 tons of Helium while on the other hans Moon contains 15 million tons of it.If we are talking aout it's significance then i would say 3 aircrafts full of Helium is enough for 6 billion Humans to fulfill there Power needs for 1 complete year...seems interesting is'nt it.It true sir,,it is.We are doing a work which nobody has ever thought of..It is costly no doubt but ultimately it will be in welfare of a common man.We r not sending a spy satellite or any any kind of stuff,it is a mission to find the answers of our energy needs, which is going to be the biggest concern for us in coming years...
cost effectivenessBy: subhash pillai | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 21:47:56 PM Reply | Forward Forget about the Helium. We may or may not be able to exploit. But that is not the point. I can only guess the number of young
To ManishBy: Indian | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 20:58:18 PM Reply | Forward Manish I have been trying to give some reply to this ignorant Han but I think I could not have put it better than the way you have put it mate. Thanks for making my job easier :)
Kudos to our scientistsBy: G Sundar | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 19:39:31 PM Reply | Forward I think the money spent towards the lunar mission is really worth for various reasons. Some of the pessimists have the same kind of attitude when we launched satellites. But look at the advantages, apart from mapping minerals deposits, country wide network for education etc. Antrix Corp is making money now. In the future we may be able to harvest Helium-3 for our power plants. Let us congratulate our engineers and scientists now and look for more challenging missions in the future.
Re: Moon MissionBy: DK | Saturday , 15 Nov '08 18:22:00 PM Reply | Forward There will always be poor in any nations. Even US has poor citizens. If we wait for all poor to get rich and then advance technologically, we will be waiting for ever and buying products from other nations. Let us celebrate our tech achievement.
