India may have lost, but good teams don’t become bad overnight

It wasn’t that long ago, twenty seven months isn’t that long, that we indulged in a familiar orgy of breast beating after crashing out of a World Cup. Now that situation is upon us again and doubtlessly it will return in our lifetime. Sport is like that; reputations count for only a little and   ....Read more

who are the "greats" in this new one-day team????By: varsha | Friday , 3 Jul '09 14:58:28 PM Reply | Forward ahhhhhh, harsha bhogle is up at it again -- convincing us all about the virtues of the "great" players in the current one-day team. smacks of inane consultancy-speak, i would say. so, who are the "greats" in your mind, harsha, amongst those playing in the current one-day team in the west indies? rohit sharma, who cannot play even one decent pull shot??? dhoni, who has looked completely out-of-sorts both as a leader and as batsman??? maybe, you go by the sponsorship deals and the money they earn instead of the wins they deliver, the runs they make or the wickets they take. good luck to ur "great" team. i will still prefer to watch tendulkar, dravid, laxman and sehwag over the new "greats" in the current one-day side.
SOLUTIONBy: ROGER | Tuesday , 30 Jun '09 22:38:53 PM Reply | Forward BCCI SHOULD MAKE NEW LAW AND RULES ALLOWING CRICKETERS MAKING MULTI MILLIONS FOR ENDORSEMENTS WILL NEVER BENEFIT INDIAN CRICKET.THESE FOOLS ONCE THEY GET FAME(YUVRAY/DHONI AND OTHERS INCLUDED) ACT LIKE GODS WE HAVE MANY YOUNGSTERS MUCH MUCH BETTER THEN DHONIS AN DYUVRAJ COULD BE GROOMED,BUT A LAW RULES NO ENDORSEMENTS,AND MIN BASIC SALARY 2 YEARS CONTRACT WILL BENEFIT INDIAN CRICKET,ORELSE THESE DHONIS AND YUVRAJS WILL MAEK INDIAN WIN ONCE TWICE OUT OF 10 TIMES WATCH IT.ROGER TAIWAN

India is a Good TeamBy: Manoj Sharma | Thursday , 25 Jun '09 12:13:31 PM Reply | Forward Indians performed very well in Sri lanka and new zealnad very recently and won tests and oine day series. One bad tournament foe various reasons cannot make Dhone and team bad . Lets be balanced in our comment . Also IE has become a good forum for pakistanis to vent out their frustration in the garb of being well wisher. Why would a pakistani be so emotional or care defies logic when we Indian dont give a damn about Pakistan itself !!

too emotionalBy: Neil | Tuesday , 23 Jun '09 2:52:02 AM Reply | Forward AS a Pakistani i am as emotional as the Indian's are about their team. India lost because of over confidence and lasck of planning, they just came off IPL and Lallit modi should be shot for India's loss. In India cricket is a money making business, national pride is gone and today India can buy any one they want to just because they are in bed with ICC, they can force ICC to change the dates of any international event and they can even force other countries to ban any player either, so what happen to India in this WC well they were shown their face in mirror, that money can't buy you success sure it can make life smoother but no success. on the other hand I was the guy who was pissed off at pakistan's performance in warmup games and said i will not watch any more cricket because it was too painfull and this team really played as a unit and looked hungry and PCB finally got their act together and add Razzaq to the team and now we are the champs.
indian cricketBy: jasmeet | Monday , 29 Jun '09 1:58:13 AM Reply | Forward there is this big drama over t20 cricket, a team is judged by test cricket not t20. You know a chef makes a delicacy and is judged on in not on 2 mins noodles....whatever be the reason of the t20 losses, ppl should stop caring about it, as harsha said good teams have bad days and bad teams have good days , take the winners...pakistan lost more matches than south africa... the point is lets look ahead to the real thing before making an opinian about the team.
India ExitBy: Shakaib Ahmad | Monday , 22 Jun '09 17:35:02 PM Reply | Forward I am a Pakistani and i live in Karachi, i have played cricket good cricket. I was in pratice with the Indian Team in which Ifran Khan took hat-trick.So many things happened in Indian cricket which i want to mention here.Players should know that there is no one bigger then the game, they should support the captain no matter what happend. i didnt see that.I personelly feel that Dhoni is the best captain ever for India, better then ganguly or Kapil Dev because he understands the player feelings and emotions and he knows how to get best out of them but he is not getting the support from senior players.T2O means , there should be a team of senior players mixed with young blood. Raina, Ishant and Rohit, they are over rated players with them you cant win, they cant deliever in crunch matches they still need time.I see Kumble sitting in the commentary box and sachin in the VIP Stand.Team went into the ground without any plan, they were exposed on short balls and there was no planning what so ever, so dhoni cant go n help them and players should realize there value.I feel really bad for the Indian Cricket fans because if South Africans are chokers then Indians are jokers. I think indian team dont want posers like harbhajan and yuvraj, they need sincere and loyal players.T2O exit for India was because of over smartness and over confidence. They should keep there dances out and play like true professionals. On the last, Harsha should work on his commentary, it is also full of fakeness and he try to create drama. Be natural and be balanced in your statements.
Shakaib Ahmad's commentBy: VickGower | Tuesday , 23 Jun '09 1:40:59 AM Reply | Forward Wow. Your comment was long yet hard to argue with. Each point of yours was very much on the mark, even regarding Harsha's commentary. Harsha talks too much, too fast, tries to be too smart-alecky. But his biggest problem is he really provides no real technical insights into the match. Merely speaking english fluently does not a commentator make, Harsha. I am sorry to say that because he is a great guy and I liked this column of his. Some of the best commentating I have heard in recent times was from the New Zealand crew during the India/NZ series. Awesome balance between speaking/silence/humor/seriousness/indignation/frustration... On top of all that, their cricketing insights were just tremendous.
ThanksBy: Shakaib Ahmad | Tuesday , 23 Jun '09 5:21:38 AM Reply | Forward Dear Vick,Thanks for the nice words..!takecares bro:)
India's T20 ExitBy: Vijay Bee | Saturday , 20 Jun '09 19:29:29 PM Reply | Forward India lost not one game but all the 3 games and the major reason for the loss was Dhoni's tactical blunders both in bowling, setting the field and re-arranging the batting order. In the match against England,Bhajji should be been sent on the fall of Raina's wicket and possibly he could have scored 14-15 runs in 6-8 balls.Jadeja should have been sent at number 8 andnot number 4.Retasining Ishant Sharma ahead of Ojha or Praveen Kumar belies defence and logic.Dhoni's honeymoon is over.He is cool no doubt but Mr Harsha Bhogle, please cite an instance of just Dhoni's tactics that either resulted in breaking a partnership or defending asmall total.Too much fame, adulation and money in too quick a time have gone to the players' head dhoni included.Vijay BeeSydney, Australia
It was not one game that we lost, we lost all THREEBy: Nikhil | Saturday , 20 Jun '09 16:26:10 PM Reply | Forward Its nice to coverup and keep the hopes up but our team really did perform badly. It wasnt one off game that they lost like SouthAfricans did against Pakistan and they are out of the tournament, we lost THREE on the trot !!! against teh only quality teams that we played in the tournament ..... some heads should roll. There are players in the team like Yuvraj who dont care about fielding anymore as they think they are too big a player to bend and pick up the ball !!
