That was a war imposed on us like another war that may still loom if Pakistan does not stop this terrorism perpetrated by them against innocent people. India did not and should not seek to destroy Pakistan - the worry that even moderate and good willed Pakistan think is India's desire. As an Indian whose father fought for Indian independance and who did not like partition, I was sorry that we had to interfere in Bangladesh due to the stupidity of Pak politicians who alienated their own citizens. I studied in France with Pakistani friends before that war in the early 1960s and know the bitter feeling the Bangladeshi people felt against their fellow west Pakistanis. They seldom talked to each other though both talked to me. I hate that we celebrate this victory since it reminds those in Pakistan of their fears and feeling that we may do it again in Baloochistan. Sorry friends it was a good victory but no celebration please.
