Is cricket becoming something we see between advertisements?

I have just been reading the transcript of the Colin Cowdrey lecture that Adam Gilchrist delivered this week in London. You must too because it is always interesting to know what a contemporary, and articulate cricketer thinks about the state of our game. We have too little of such debate in In  ....Read more

Sick of just reading columnsBy: Akshay | Monday , 29 Jun '09 11:58:13 AM Reply | Forward A test series is not marketed very well, say, an Australian team visiting South Africa is not marketed well in India, coz in India, only when India os playing the match is interest on high pitch, rest anyone doesn't seem to matter much. I don't think people in India know or remember what happened in SA e few months back. Market Test series well enough. And as far as the ads are concerned, people like who have a voice, or have platform to air their voice should use it to put forth the point not to the public for making money through niceely put forth columns but to the people that matter
Well said Harsha.BCCI is polluting Gentlemen Cricket to be just a lust ofg money.By: Rakesh | Sunday , 28 Jun '09 21:14:57 PM Reply | Forward Well said Harsha.BCCI is polluting Gentlemen Cricket to be just a lust of money. They are even using it for politicizing victimization of Pakistan which will in the End just Suffer the Asian Block of cricket power.BCCI have to control the amount of cricket of our international players otherwise we will keep getting shameful exit like we got in 2007 ODI world cup or 2009 T20 world cup.
Harsha "verbal diarrhea" BhogleBy: RedNeck Ricky | Sunday , 28 Jun '09 4:07:26 AM Reply | Forward As usual, Harsha "verbal diarrhea" Bhogle offers his seemingly erudite comments on the game. He and Ravi Shastri make a lot of money out of their trite remarks. Here are few of mine -Thank god for advertising and the money, it's about time cricketers started making some real money. The more advertising the better, get revenues but spend it wisely to spead the game!!! Use it to sustain test cricket as well, 5 test series - good build ups by the media and competitive teams playing test matches will help. With the advent to T20 one days are honestly boring and too predictable, no great story unfluring like a test match or the ooomph factor of the T20. PS - The hair looks nice :-) Glad I don't need to suffer your bald head anymore!!!

Commerce of CricketBy: Parikshit Kulkarni | Saturday , 27 Jun '09 23:10:18 PM Reply | Forward About time someone said it Harsha. Not just cricket, but evrything on TV suffers from the same malaise.Infact it has almost come to a situation tht programs r shown in between, reluctantly, only because no one would watch a TV just for ads.Coming back to cricket, its the mediocre management of cricket,be it ICC or the despicable BCCI,the ones who are mandated to govern, market
