I've support on gay rights within Cabinet: Ramadoss

Chennai, October 1:: Faced with stiff resistance from the Union Home Ministry for his efforts to do away with Section 377 of IPC which penalises gay sex, Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said he and other ‘like-minded’ colleagues planned to meet PM Manmohan Singh and seek a solution. Ramadoss also called for  ....Read more

The truth about health risksBy: Frederick Smit | Tuesday , 4 Nov '08 17:46:21 PM Reply | Forward The president should decriminalise foirst the treatment and access to treatment of msm's and thereby allow infected people to seek medical attention, this would directly reduce the overall health problem faced by the country by minimising or at least bringing attention to hiv and also making bisexual people aware that they should take care when having intercourse between sexes to reduce cross infection.if the government still believes homosexuials are the only ones with hiv aids, then they should help them, because not all men who sleep with me, are ONLY sleeping with MEN.therefore, to reduce spread, create awareness and provide better health care by opening treatment to everyone and not discriminating, for in doing so you will only be creating more problems for your country.
amazingBy: sb | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 20:19:49 PM Reply | Forward Completely amazed by the comments here. Some of them are so ignorant (Christianity, too, does not support homosexuality, public societies do; India leads in HIV not malaria and TB; and no, this is not westernization -- it's simply recognizing reality; ). Ramadoss must be commended on taking up this issue.
ramadossBy: warren | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 20:12:52 PM Reply | Forward ramadoss is right. gay activities in india is rampant and like many oother uncomfortable social issues is swept under the rug. the sooner india accepts it in mature fashion and formulates mature social and health relared policies the better for india
SODOMY By: Faruk Kodimiran | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 19:31:52 PM Reply | Forward Instead of treating the homesexual people as patients requiring specail treatmnet, it is a shame that a qualified and knowledgeable doctor-Minister is looking at the issue using Western coloured glasses. SAD VERY SAD VERY VERY SAD
First Educate publicBy: G Sundar | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 19:21:55 PM Reply | Forward These postings show how ignorant we are in the topic being discussed. Getting emotional is not going to help anybody. Other nations and WHO have done enormous research in the field. Let us educate the public first. The government of India doesn't seems to have a clue in the same sex discussion leave alone the common person on the street. Dr. Ramadas should first
Erratic AnpumaniBy: Ambumani | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 19:05:21 PM Reply | Forward This man has some basic problem. He suddenly talks about things to please Westerners. On this issue, Hindus,Muslims and Christians of India will be one voice and his fellow minister Oscar will soon find seatless in the coming election. Why Manmohan Singh is tolerating this stupid guy. His father Dr,Ramadoss seems to be out of touch with his prodigal son.
RAMADOSBy: True Indians | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 18:01:05 PM Reply | Forward SIMPLY SHUT UP AND GET OUT YOU RAMADOS......You DO NOT HAVE SUPPORT OF MAJORITY PEOPLE OF INDIA. YOU ONLY HAVE FOREIGN POWER AND WASTED INTEREST SUPPORT.....
Hindu values - Where is India?By: Bharat | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 17:13:43 PM Reply | Forward Wah UPA government ! India has been turned into christian bastion with focus on issues such as gay rights etc. India taught 'Dahrma' to the world but has itself fallen into the graveyard of decadence under the pretext of "secularism" as practiced by the current government. Ask these decadent politicians to leave India. Restore the land of Dharma and good Karma to its past glory.
Kudos to RamuBy: ram | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 16:43:32 PM Reply | Forward I was reading all these comments posted here and now I assume that Indians still live 50 yrs back to West. I surprise that there people in India where they deny rights to gays. What is your problem if someone likes a same sex person. It’s a liberal society. Kudos to Ramu.
Gay RightsBy: ajay | Wednesday , 1 Oct '08 16:34:23 PM Reply | Forward I think, Mr Ramadoss has lost his sense and therefore he is supporting gay rights in India. He doesnt deserve to be a minister in the Cabinet. Sometime I doubt whether he himself is gay or wht ?
Is it of any relevance whether or not this is the case, stick to the topic and stop personalising things and bringing attention only to your own selfish viewsBy: Frederick Smit | Tuesday , 4 Nov '08 17:59:30 PM Reply | Forward I can only say that his sexuality is not up fopr discussion, it is a by the wayside point of no direct significance, relevance or impact to the topic. Why do you feel the need to distract from the initial point.Let me answer this question so you can see for yourself how foolish you really are.Allow me to put myself in your shoes.By distracting from the topic you are not only going "me me me me me me me" but also "bla bla bla bla bla". perhaps for once you should stop[ being so selfish and let people do their jobs. This man has recognised that although the government has established policies, there are side effects of such policies and by editing or reconsidering those policies, these side effects can be avoided, such as men who have sex with other men, who also have sex with women. i guess because the women are mentioned, you will now think he may be bisexual, and so what if the man is. Do you have feelings for him, perhaps this is a deep seated romantic attraction you hold for him. i get the impression you will be offended by this, perhaps because it is true, perhaps because you now feel what injustice a comment like the one YOU left, can have on a person. I hope your mind is opened nowe to the reality of life. Stop looking at problems and find solutions. Stop walking in circles and ;living in your own dream world. life does not revolve around your own imagined dystopian future of a society which you probably do not even belong to [gay] and if you do then shame on you for yuour self loathing egotistical comments.show some support or show some silence!Better to have attempted and failed than to have made not attempt at all.Your comment was neither helpful, respectful, insigtful nor interesting, so perhaps the administrators of ythis site should remove it.Perhaps someone like me, who perhaps thinks too highly of their own opinion and i apologise if in fact this is the case, perhaps someone like me needed to leave a comment like this for you, and thats why they didnt remove it.who can say.in life we need to learn to live together and help each other, to shareknowledge, information and love.i respect your views and that is why i have left this comment, to share my view on your view in the hope that perhaps, although it may have been agressive, it may sway your minfd to second guess your own previous statement.i hope you never have HIV or AIDS and are refused treatment. That would be real irony.Or would that just be justice?
