Conversion or religious inversionBy: jay | Friday , 17 Oct '08 10:27:31 AM Reply | Forward Sir,When the Pope visited India,he gave a call for "A Harvest of Faith". A very harvest of faith is going on with added vigour. There is nothing wrong with a person choosing his own line of faith,be it another religion or even Atheism. This is a matter of individual choice, but to "harvest Faith " from poor, helpless and illiterate men and women will merely increase the numbers in a demographic statistic,a mere information. When the Lord talked about Sheep and Shepherd,it was in a metaphorical context, and not treating people as sheep to be herded into a new pen or a religion.Yes ,it is heartening and divine to offer shelter, food and a better life ,but there should be no quid pro quo ,otherwise the excercise will remain plain forced proselytism. And pray tell me,by anyone who knows the matter well, will these so converted be treated as equal members of the Church with the right to be given a parishioner's status in life and after, like social equality and burial in Church Cemetery?

Communal violenceBy: John | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 17:05:54 PM Reply | Forward When poor dalits and tribals starve, nobody bothers. If someone come forward to help them by providing food, shelter or education and because of this they happens to converts, the so called guardians of Hindus come to burn Orphanage, Churches, etc. BJP polyticians supports such heinous crime too. Incredible.
helpBy: rajan | Saturday , 18 Oct '08 17:37:03 PM Reply | Forward Go to pakistan, Afaganistan and other muslim country. There are lot of poor. Even in Country please go the muslim and help them . Try to convert. then u nonsence able to knoe what sort of reply you will get. Tis is simple rediculous and nonsence.
conversionBy: Sana | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 17:30:23 PM Reply | Forward If the people who are readily converting to Christianity, help these dalits or whoever, without converting them to their own religion, then that would be a class act, of really doing something selfless for these people. But if there is conversion on the agenda, then its a no brainer.
conversionBy: Harsha | Wednesday , 15 Oct '08 2:48:43 AM Reply | Forward Well said. I second your opinion
Conversion is the cause of ViolenceBy: J.N.Mahanty | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 15:41:48 PM Reply | Forward While violence of all forms deserves to be condemned, Christians of the Country shd introspect to find out the reasons for the alleged attacks on Churches,Pastors
Centre finding faults in othersBy: Harsh | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 11:06:44 AM Reply | Forward While the UPA is looking into what they themselves are doing about the Terror Situation in the country, They are busy pin pointing blame on others. Not only they dont want POTA to come into effect which somewhat helps and empowers the Poilce and Intelligence, they are setting wrong examples by pardoning people like Afzal's. India is a Hindu Nation, Under the constitution and Facts knows to all, India is a Hindu Nation. People Should follow the way of life people live here. If they have a problem with that, like any other india they too have a "Righ to Leave" the country. Noone can justify forced conversions which have been going on for ages. Though i am not justifying any politician or any religion, but propoganda against something to benefit your own cause is totally against the law of the nature.
WHO'S GOD IS IT ANYWAYBy: LIVINPEACE | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 10:55:19 AM Reply | Forward DEAR EDITOR WHEN POPE JOHN PAUL VISITED INDIA HE SAID THAT "" IT IS NOT AFRICA BUT INDIA IS MORE FERTILE TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF CHRIST "" SINCE THEN CONVERSION ACTIVITY IS ALARMINGLY RISING BY LURING POOR HINDUS ---PARTICULAR FOCUS ON DALITS . BY GIVING FREE - EDUCATION / MEDICARE / JOBS AND EVEN FREE FOOD IS DISTRIBUTED DAILY . DALITS AND BACKWARDS WHO ARE BADLY NEGLECTED
WHO'S GOD IS IT ANYWAYBy: Derek | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 22:30:28 PM Reply | Forward This is in respone to "livinpeace" who is afraid to reveal his identity. Why dont you guys look after the poor hindus and dalits and treat them like human beings? You guys love to keep them down so you can walk all over the ones who "are badly neglected."Treat the as your equals and then talk about others. Dont be a hypocrite.
Attack on Christians is BJP's gameplan for electionsBy: Tuny Dey | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 10:24:19 AM Reply | Forward Sir,The claims of the sangh parivar and their Karnataka/ Orissa CM's that Christians are responsible for the unrest and there are forced conversion done by Christians are hollow. The forced conversions are done by VHP and Bajrang Dal in Orissa now. Thousands of Christians are hiding in the forests unable to retrun if they are no converted to Hinduism. The root cause is economy. if the SAngh parivar sees that any other persons except Hindus are prospering in a place they are up in arms against them. They carry tridents and swords and kill innocent people and rape nuns. Why this outfit should not be banned and their leaders put behing bars? The hate propaganda of these groups must be stopped. The Maoists killed the swami in Orissa, and Christians are massacred for that. what justis is this? There was not a single case of forced conversion in Karnataka. then why the churches are attacked. It is part of BJP's political game plan for the electoins. It is political not religious.
Karnataka CM blames Christian organizations for communal unrestBy: Francis E A Rodrigues | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 8:51:01 AM Reply | Forward I find strange that the chief minister has done nothing to arrest the printers and publishers of satyadarshini and has not filed a single case against forcible conversion in the state inspite of being in authority. What prevents him in getting at least one case filed and take it to logical conclusion would have strengthened his party's case
Reply to Francis E A RodriguesBy: Sumanyu | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 11:22:50 AM Reply | Forward There is no end to such fights if there are people like you. Do you think what was circulated by New Life was correct. Does Christian religion teach people to show other Gods in poor light. Why don't you condemn it ? This is as barbaric and henious as the attacks on the Christians by some elements. We all have freedom to practice our own religion. But whay do Chrstian missionaries convert poor people ? If they care so much for the downtrodden they can do some social service without hurting sentiments of other religions. Why don't these Christian organisations try and convert Muslims ? Try doing that and they will be lynched. No doubt about that.
stop conversionBy: nitin | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 8:41:53 AM Reply | Forward Conversions must stop at the first hand to avoid such violence. Where as I condemn nay sort of violence to vent ire , I also urge to look into the root cause behind that is leading to such acts of violence. It is a well known fact that the missionaries aided with foreign funds are all out in their agenda to harvest souls in India. They employ if not coercive , semi coercive methods ,emotional blackmail, so called faith healing which does nt have any scientific logic and abuse of Hindu gods to convert the gullible innocent masses.I have studied in convent and I really value the quality education I had but the saddest fact remians that there were definite attempts by the missionaries for conversion. They subtly try to make you feel ashamed of being what you are .If they really want to service the poor, why they cannot do it without intefering with the faith of the people. This is not service ,this is bargaining .
Modern India is a joke!!By: John | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 8:29:37 AM Reply | Forward I'm glad I migrated out of India years ago and have never regretted it. India is a stone age country masquerading as a 21st century power. It's politicians and goonda raj that rules India.
reply to Modern Indian is a jokeBy: Nanaiah | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 10:01:39 AM Reply | Forward If you glad by telling that you migrated out of India years ago and not regretted it, why you being so called good person could not take any leadership to correct the same what you have mentioned in your message, Do forget your motherland this land has give you primary food ,shelter , education and culture and if your not likeing INDIA keep it yourself do not Criticize India. Wait and see the importance of your motherland, tradation and culture in your oldage
modern india is jokeBy: abc | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 13:01:53 PM Reply | Forward christians are soft , thats the reason people are targetting them. do christians need a political outfit like SIMI , RSS / VHP / BD ... funded from outside india.. never needs.. as saying forgive for all who betray you... lord jesus is grate
Know the realty at the ground levelBy: xyz | Tuesday , 14 Oct '08 15:10:31 PM Reply | Forward No these conversionist are not soft. They exercise tremendous money, muscle, political and unethical practices (like giving a paracetamol to cure headhache and telling the tribals that it is a blessing from Christ) powers. You have to be in those areas to know the reality. They are the anti-thesis of what Christ stood for. Lord Christ, give them wisdom. This is not to condone the attacks on any community. God, give the perpetuators of voilence against any community the wisdom to think of love, compassion and peace.
Forced Conversions by Christians? JokeBy: Jessy | Tuesday , 13 Jan '09 14:20:51 PM Reply | Forward It is actually the Hindhus who r forcing conversions. Christians r afraid to return to their villages in Orissa as they fear they will be forced to convert to Hinduism or else be killed. What harm does an orphanage do to hinduism? They burn down these orphanages run by christians that give shelter and food for many homeless children some of them abandoned by hindhu parents. A nun was gang raped and made to walk naked in a crowded market. Many of u hindu extremists must be rejoicing and cheering that. What if it happens to ur own mom, sis, or daughter? Or are u such animals who r so heartless that u don't mind that either. Many of u hindhu extremists r rejoicing over the killings of innocent children and helpless civilians in Gaza. Killing of innocents should be condemned eventhough Isrealis have to face rocket attacks from Gaza. Instead something has to be done to eliminate the terrorist group 'Hamas'. But the consoling fact is that in every extremist community there are still many compassionate people left.
