"Monsoon Wedding" is a great hymn to love and lust, knowing both the world and the human heart to be sometimes lousy places but still feeling the Game to be worth the salt. 19th century people used to refer to international politics as 'the Great Game', but we all know that the pursuit of another's heart is the true Great Game. This film is funny and beautiful, but it doesn't ignore the dark places of the human psyche. (Light can't exist without darkness, etc.) Even those of us who are not good at the Game(I include myself in that number) will find much to delight in. The camera work and acting are beyond reproach - everyone rises to the occasion. The ensemble work is truly contrapuntal. Hats off to all concerned. Greg Cameron, Surrey, B.C., Canada
