‘Mumbai Police failed 3 of its best’

Mumbai: Vinita Kamte, wife of Ashok Kamte, who was Mumbai’s Additional Commissioner of Police (East) and was one of the three top officers killed by Ajmal Kasab and Abu Ismail along with ATS chief Hemant Karkare and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar, has accused the Mumbai Police system of failing th  ....Read more

A conspiracyBy: sunny | Thursday , 3 Dec '09 20:51:02 PM Reply | Forward It doesnt take great brains. The government story is a lie. These three officers have been murdered in cold blood with the connivance of the highest echelon of the mumbai police. If indeed these 3 were shot by the terrorists than there were a section of connivers who told these terrorsit whom to shoot. But do not think that these three were shot by the terorists. The three were killed earlier and there bodies were stacked in the van. These killers than instructed the terrorists to fire at the van without telling them that the occupants were really dead. It is no surprise that kasab thinks that he and partner killed the three officers.Mind you, these were the officers of the highest calibre whereas even fools would not huddle together to confront the terrorists. I refuse to believe even in my dreams that that they could do this. The inaction of the control room tells the real story. Mrs Kamte has directly pointed fingers at the culprit. I bet she is convinced that facts are different.
police kissi ki bhi sagi nahinBy: simmi | Tuesday , 1 Dec '09 12:41:07 PM Reply | Forward having gone thru an ordealin the hands of corrupt police officer,i always had grudges for such police officrs. The way the top three police oficers died was also mysterious. more mysterious was the way the brave lady had to seek information . surprisingly, a police officer's wife had to use the common man's tool to get the information about her slain husband's death. police kissi ki bhi sagi nahin.
Mrs KamteBy: sangeeta | Saturday , 28 Nov '09 8:42:54 AM Reply | Forward The ifs and buts of the events prior the the movement of shooting of your late husband and his mates in the police van at cama hospital could be a endless debate but the events after the shooting till the death of the three of them are in a transparent view point, they should not have died unattended in the heart of the city just next to the hospital, they certainly did not die instantly
Who Is Responsible?By: A Gokak | Thursday , 26 Nov '09 10:58:01 AM Reply | Forward This was happening almost across the road from the Main office of the Mumbai Police Commissionerate, and very close also to the downtown HQ of State Police! Vijay Salaskar thrashed around in pain, bleeding profusely for 40 mins. Indian Mujahidin had warned about targetting these very men by name in their public email a few months previously. What personal security had they been provided prior to the attack? Why is Karkare's bullet-proof jacket missing, and who is punished for this lapse? A pity that the widows of the men killed on duty are publicly raising these issues on personal initiative! This speaks a lot about the general Indian moral fibre today. The media splashes the nonsense utterances of folk like Mahesh Bhatt, the self-proclaimed Popes of the horribly anti-Indian Bollywood. Why did Vineeta Kamte need to go to all the effort of writing and publishing a book on her side of the story after such painstaking research, that too in the face of shameless official stonewalling?
IRRESPONSIBLE RESPONSEBy: ANOOPAM MODAK | Thursday , 26 Nov '09 9:26:51 AM Reply | Forward The startling revelation of facts by Vimla Kamte that has obtained those through Right to Information Act is deemed authentic and reflects nothing, but the act of irresponsibility of the officers in the control of the operation. Who is going to be answerable for the loss of three invaluable lives of security personnel for the fault of others? How will the government compensate the loss of those police officers? Criminal proceedings ought to be drawn up against the person(s) responsible for the tragedy, so as to sent down strong signal in the police rank and file that police officers ought to be meticulous in discharging their duties.
Please understand realityBy: H Srinivas | Thursday , 26 Nov '09 9:25:27 AM Reply | Forward Sri Kamte, Sri Salaskar and Sri Karkare are too much glorified in their death. But, as highly trained and decorated officer, they should have remembered one basic training they received - to take positions. They did not do that on that fateful day. All three huddle into a single vehicle and drove towards the firing terrorist. That is another foolish thing that only Indian police officers could do. Instead being impulsive in their reaction, they should have spent at least 5 minutes for planning their move and encircle the attackers from three different directions with adequate reinforcement, the story would have been different, and they themselves would have received their gallantry awards. In this incident, Sri Omble did an exemplary job, he did what is expected of him to do. He is the real hero, and not so others. Hats off to Omble!
