India is a tropical monsoonal country. we can have understanding with countries like Nepal, Bhutan regarding construction of dams which will check occurence of floods. similarly with China we can have understanding regarding sharing of hydrological information. We can go for construction of embankments in the identified flood prone areas. Flood is a major disaster so disaster managemet has to be done and each district should have such type of team. Unfortunately flood is not only confined to flood prone areas but also in urban areas it can be seen. Many cities with growing population and pressing demand for the land encroaching chaneels and the waste gets in to the drain thus choking the drainage system. Rescue and relief operation has to be quick. Casualties are more because of waterbone diseaes and lack of medical facilities.

Our PM has also let us down this time. He has time to visit the Trident-Oberoi which are privately owned and can repair themselves. But he has no time to inquire into the rehabilitation of the flood affected people in Bihar, who are totally dependent on the government.

It is hoped that in the future the engineers, scientists, and other officials will be cautious. The water barrier in Nepal was already expired, but no one cared to notice till thousands died. For so many people in the flood, we had so few helicopters. Our corrupt politicians and greedy us who elect them.

People have become so insensitive that they dont comment on such "worthless piece of journalism",rite? Its appaling to see the government's reaction to this crisis. Shouldnt the government be held accountable for their inability to solve this recurring problem?
