New beginnings?

Special to Indian Express

New Delhi: Of course, I would have liked the election results to have been the other way round. [1] But, of the remaining alternatives, what the electorate has handed down is the best one. While many had been celebrating the trend towards coalitions – “The real India is coming into its own… India’s vibran  ....Read more

Back to K G ,school, college and post-doctoral programs!By: P A Kashyap | Wednesday , 26 Aug '09 16:20:09 PM Reply | Forward The whole syllabus and methodology to be designed and executed by A Shourie for whoever wishes to contest elections and hold public office. Bit of extra hardwork for him but all reformists have done it since ancient times.Given his commitment and grip over whatever has held us back, it is in country's interest that he accepts this harsh task. Life is not endless, we are all like lighted candles. Split syllabus in tiny pieces and get going, to start with BJP, RSS groups. Now that he has proved his mettle over the years, it is those power-seekers who ruin parties and Put their legs when men like Shourie are about to make a sprint for 100 meters! As always A Shourie is right that it is in times like these that parties in power and those in opposition have to prove worth of their salt!
read thisBy: siddharth gupta | Monday , 20 Jul '09 10:01:21 AM Reply | Forward these texts should be made mandatory reading all public schools....instead of wasting time on useless western 'experts', the govt should pay heed to brilliant people like shourie...and the BJP should continuously voice these concerns through the media...
Trapped in time warpBy: ravi nair | Saturday , 18 Jul '09 10:51:55 AM Reply | Forward Not one thought expressed is new. Shourie got his chance. He muffed it. We have not forgotten the corruption, nepotism and communalism of the NDA days. The Bangaru Laxman tape, the Ranjan Bhattacharya parallel government, the sweetheart deals with the Ambanis, to name a few. The BJP is doomed for the next 10 years if it continues to rely on old gits and young jerks.
replyBy: rajeev | Monday , 28 Sep '09 21:32:03 PM Reply | Forward it will be more prudent to judge on the basis of right or wrong rather on the basis of new or old else we may mis important lesson to learn on irrelevant consideration our vision should we kept clear
Are you fool?By: Ramesh | Thursday , 23 Jul '09 19:39:52 PM Reply | Forward How can you blame Arun shourie persoanally for ills of NDA? Only fools can connect corruption with Arun Shourie who is the gem of nation. Our country is fortunate in having people like us.Instead of hounouring him you are indulging in bashing him or what else can be expected from a member of Servants of Sonia Society
New Beggings?, Very logical article supported by indepth analysisBy: Shrikant Shah | Wednesday , 15 Jul '09 3:01:26 AM Reply | Forward Why BJP is not using such brilliant studies for enlightening the pepole in general and BJP workers in particular?
..By: Ritesh | Friday , 7 Aug '09 2:00:51 AM Reply | Forward The reason is my friend 90% of our population wont understand his language ( he articulates better in English) and his mannerism (he is more of a backroom hyper intelligent economist rather than a chavanni chor neta).Secondly almost 80% of our population votes on bases of Caste, community, language, region, tribe ,etc..It does not matter to them how clean their public life is or how good they are!!
A brilliant article, with indepth analysisBy: indian | Saturday , 27 Jun '09 14:50:33 PM Reply | Forward This is a brilliant article from arun shourie, as usual.. The extent and sharpness of details, requires a user to read it atleast twice or thrice to grasp the entire content.I wish, more leaders from the BJP develop their ability to approach issues and analyse critically, like this..
Extremely well-arguedBy: Raj | Friday , 26 Jun '09 11:28:30 AM Reply | Forward But would carry more conviction if it is published in a newspaper that is not a government mouthpiece, and whose editor earned his vibhushan by rendering excellent service to the government!
arun shourie, the greatBy: prem seth | Friday , 19 Jun '09 2:43:18 AM Reply | Forward the comments made by arunji are so crystal clear that they make us to think to act now and act quickly before its too late. i think his articles and thoughts about the past, present and the future of indian politics should be published and made as text books for all college students. the other most difficult tasks( or nearly impossible ) that can be achieved in indian politics is to have an entrance examination for candidates who wish to contest elections. the moderator should be no other than arun shourie.
Thoughts of ShourieBy: K.Phani Kumar, Advocate | Friday , 31 Jul '09 23:12:25 PM Reply | Forward The thoughts of Shourie are forced me to recollect the Late.Dr. Sarvepally Radhakrishnan, and both are the best intellectuals of India
Brilliant ShourieBy: Indian | Thursday , 18 Jun '09 18:27:36 PM Reply | Forward Arun Shourie is brilliant as ever. He has covered all important aspects of the President's speech and listed the action required by the govt. I hope there is wide debate on it and atleast educated citizens read this. I hope he makes this as a speech in the Rajya Sabha. Also, wish there is a way to disseminate this information to a larger group of people.Thank you Mr. Shourie. I think you should train 4-5 people to think and research like you. I know it is tough but the country needs some more number of Arun Shouries.
my commentsBy: sunil shah | Thursday , 18 Jun '09 9:22:53 AM Reply | Forward I have been reading Shourie's article since a long time (when he was editor of Indian Express), I find his arguements and logic razor sharp which no one can easily ignore, however these arguements have not found wider audience in India because they only appear in a small section of print media and they find no mention in the electronic media.Baba Ramdev has lately come out with some very easy but very effective solutions for the ills of India and his ideas/solutions are really revolutionary, he has been talking about them since few months on Astha channel every day morning and evening. I think Shourie should meet Baba Ramdev and join his platform. His ideas together with Baba's ideas will find a huge audience thru Astha channel. Baba Ramdev wants to start his peaceful agitation from 5th January 2010 and I am sure after this date even other channels and print media will be forced to spread his message as the support he is expected to get all over India will be tremedeous.
The argumentative IndianBy: Commoner | Monday , 15 Jun '09 18:20:59 PM Reply | Forward Arun Shourie has, in this lengthy critique of the President's address, correctly pointed out to all the ills of the government and at the same time, sought a miracle cure for them. I am only surprised that he did not write this when he was a minister. Neither did he point out to the failings of the then cabinet. It is a fact that India cannot attack a nuclear capable Pakistan, to root out terrorism. Neither can any country (incl US) attack China. India needs to focus on economic prosperity and then use the economic muscle to deal with enemies of the state.
