IIT KGPBy: KUMAR GAURAV | Sunday , 12 Jul '09 11:03:29 AM Reply | Forward I agree with Achintya Nath Saxena that only after one enters kgp he/she realizes the versatility of the institute. But the matter of concern is the lack of top 100 students. The basic reason behind this is that most of the students prefer metro cities because of the lifestyles in these cities and, so this problem will continue in the upcoming years and is unlikely to get solved
IIT-KgpBy: Achintya Nath Sexena | Monday , 6 Jul '09 11:51:15 AM Reply | Forward The contention that there are no takers for IIT-Kharagpur only on the basis of the preferences of the top 100 IIT-JEE rankers is not correct. There are 3000 ranks in the General category in IIT-JEE and other students do opt for IIT-Kgp. IIT-Kgp though is not situated in a metro city but it is the earliest , biggest and the most versatile of all IITs when it comes to departments and courses. It was the first IIT to start the MBA course and also the LLB course and also the super-specialized departments in Telecommunications , Infrastructure Design and Nanotechnology that don't even offer B.Tech degrees and give only PhDs. When one enters Kgp , only then one realizes the sheer intellectual diversity and depth of this place.
