AUTONOMY FOR OIL SECTORBy: manish chandna | Wednesday , 24 Jun '09 13:56:40 PM Reply | Forward BEING ASSOCIATED WITH THE OIL INDUSTRY FOR LAST 15 YRS I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH MONTEK SINGH AHLUWALIA THAT OIL PRICES PARTICULARLY MOTOR FUELS NEED TO BE DEREGULATED AND LINKED TO INTERNATIONAL PRICES .IF THE GOVT TOMMOROW DUE TO RISING CRUDE PRICES FEELS THE NEED TO INSULATE THE DOMESTIC CONSUMER THE SAME CAN BE DONE THRU REDUCTIONS IN EXCISE AND CUSTOMS DUTY . BUT TO PROMOTE ACCOUTIBILTY , EFFICIENCY IN THE OIL PSU;S PVT SECTOR HAS TO BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO OPERATE AGAIN. THE OIL REGULATRY BOARD ALSO NEEDS TO BE GIVEN MORE AUTHORITY AND POWERS.
